Hard to put down. The book conjures up feelings we have all had at one time or other. Our insecurities, our families, our view of the world, not sugar coated. At the same time it's funny and honest. Not my typical genre but so glad I picked it up.
I loved this story from beginning to end. More than a love story by far. It is a story of a woman who triumphs over all and falls in love in the end. I laughed out loud, cried tears of sorrow and felt - at times - that I was experiencing déjà vu... As a "big boned girl" I also learned that I don't fit in this world from a very young age. This story, and Canny's journey to self acceptance and self love felt like the beginning of my journey to do the same. I am inspired by her. Thank you Jennifer - what a wonderful web you wove.
My first Jennifer Weiner book and now I am hooked. Its not your regular romance book Not predictable at all. I found my self sobbing, gasping or laughing out loud at certain points. Couldn't stop listening. Can't wait for my next boo
She really has the gift, loved the narrative.
The concept for the book was great. Love the person you are in the body you are given. The story seemed to really drag on about the Bruce thing, come on Cany. ..let it go already. Overall, it was a nice light read.
I'm sorry but this story just moved really slow for me. I felt like it could have been about half the length. It was a decent read but just didn't grab me.
From abandonment issues with a father, to one's mother dating women, to your ex publicly embarrassing you, to weight issues, to randomly meeting and be-friending famous people, to the idea of accidental pregnancy and making tough choices, this book covers A LOT of ground.
