So many books...so little time! :)
This second book was better than the last! Cole seems to have such a way to write characters in such a way that make them seem like nothing could possible work between them, and then she surprises you over and over again. She certainly did that in No Rest for the Wicked as a valkyrie, Kaderin, meets her match in a vampire, Sebastian, and sworn enemy.
Kaderin has every reason to hate vampires considering one killed her sisters years ago...now she hunts them and saves a fang for everyone she kills. Sebastian, on the other hand, was forced into becoming a vampire by his brother, and has lived with it, hating every minute for the past three hundred years, but he wishes to no longer.
The day he meets Kaderin everything changes... he is brought back to life, and for the first time Kaderin is unable to kill a vampire. As Kaderin enters the High, a month-long competition promising a reward that can bring back her sisters, after meeting Sebastian, he ends up following her through it while trying to win her over. Just when you think things are possible...the game changes again.
This book has it all...suspense, action, intensity, death, and life...not to mention more great characters and great lines!! I am loving these books, and I can't stop reading/listening to them. Robert Petkoff is great, and all I can do is keep going... :)
A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies… The man who never reads lives only one. ~George R.R. Martin
I loved this book, played it over and over again, well worth the money or the credit. Kresley Cole can spin a great tale, full of fun and sexy delight. Book is self contained but treads to gather in the whole series in a very smooth tale. would like to see all of Kresley Cole books in audible. Robert Petkoff kicks ass in narrated, he is one of the best.
This is the story of a reluctant vampire who is given a reason to be a vampire. Sebastian is one of those brilliant innocent types. Whos handsome but doesn't use it, big and strong but was embarrased by it as a mortal. Oh but when he meets a real woman and a valykrie on top of that he comes out of that shell and blossoms well.
Kaderin is that woman and the last thing on her mind is romance and certainly not with a vampire. But this charming semi clueless vamp just has it going on.
If for some strange reason you have not read Kresley Cole you can't consider yourself a fan of the genre that is immortals. These books are witty and fun and action backed with a lot of characters you will enjoy. Robert Petkoff the narrator is and will always be the narrator for this series. His accents are wonderful and he knows how to whisper sweet nothings in your ear.
If you like Sebastian keep in mind he is 1 of the 4 Wroth brothers that is just a part of this immortal series.

I have one thing to say about Robert Petkoff reading these books....WOW!!! He is the perfect person to read these characters. Rarely do you come across an actor who can not only play all male characters very convincingly but also play female characters and make you forget it's a male reading the character. Not to mention the accents he does are spot on! He makes listening to these great stories so enjoyable I find myself getting lost in them. I'd like to hear him read Christine Feehan's books as well...he'd be perfect for those too!
No I hated the dialect of sebastian that the narrator used
That Sebastian could trace to different areas was most interesting. the least interesting was his relationship with brothers.
dont like it
not at all
Exceeded my expectations
This book is in the same vein as Jacquelyn Frank's Nightwalker Series. The story line, characters and excitement really keeps you interested and wanting more. When I finished her books and finally stopped waiting for the next one, I looked for, hoped for something that would keep me as enthralled as the Night Walkers did and I found it in Kresley Cole's books.
He is great. He makes you instantly feel like you are inside the book
When I found out that one of the main characters would die I was crushed.
Be prepared for exciting twists and turns you don't see coming.
I can't put my finger on what I didn't like about this book. It seemed unrealistic which is funny since it is paranormal romance. Couldn't finish.
Listen to the 1st part and so bored I had to go to another book.
The narrator was just fine
Say something about yourself!
The idea of this book was intriguing, but it kind of got lost in the shuffle. The first book in the series was kind of like star crossed lovers...this book was more like two people who shouldn't be together, but they have to so I guess we will get it over with.
There wasn't much in the way of falling in love...they were kind of hit with a mystical whammy and poof they were attracted to each other, but it felt kind of forced.
Overall still an okay book, I think it was like $7 for 8 hours of distraction so it was totally worth it, but nothing to get obsessed about.
