The narrator was outstanding...easy to listen to.
Wouldn't have changed it...it was a feel good sports book with a good, positive ending
No, but only because when I finish a book I never care to reread it.
I love the ending. It was perfect! I love the Chicago Cubs, so references to some of the old "Cubbies" brought back memories from my childhood.
Yes I have. He did an amazing job in the narration of this book too.
1. Grisham hits another one out of the ballpark!
2. Calico Joe is a grandslam!
I am a huge Grisham fan. He never disappoints. I loved Calico Joe!
I would consider any audio book better than the print version. I have a "bag" that I carry my kindle fire in so I can "read" while I am cleaning, working in the garden, driving longer distances in the car or after going to bed (with the sleep timer on) at night.
The middle aged man who told the story. Can't remember his name, but I remember him!!! The author and reader made him so real and so human that it would have been difficult NOT to understand his dilemma.
The brothers of Calico Joe. There must have been a struggle for them as they supported their brother after the injury. Would want to ask what it was like for them.
I am not a sports fan. Deciding to purchase the book was not an easy decision for me because of that fact. However, I would recommend this book to people who are not necessarily interested in baseball. It is a beautiful story of only one of the many events that can happen to people as they journey through life---baseball just happens to be part of each characters life journey in this book.
I really enjoyed listening to this book. Baseball is embedded in our family. In fact, my husband once broke an opponent's jaw pitching at his head to brush him back so the premise of the book really intrigued me. As usual John Grisham created a great book with a moral to the story which even non-baseball people can enjoy!
This was a departure for Grisham. It was more like A Painted House than the legal thrillers. I enjoyed it for what it was. But it is for lovers of sports, not for fans of legal thrillers. I would think that somebody who didn't enjoy baseball would find it extremely tedious.
What a great ending. I really didn't see how he was going to pull it all together.
Grisham is an excellent storyteller, and as a baseball fan, I thoroughly enjoyed the backdrop in which the story takes place. Very entertaining.
Easy read, fun, inspiring
The spirit of Joe
This is the first time listening to Singer. He made the book come to life.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!
