Unnecessarily complicated plot, so farfetched that it needed to be explained at the end. There's no room for self discovery ie. opportunity for reader to guess at the direction the story is going or why certain things happened. The author jumps from one impossible coincidence and farfetched plot twist to the next... Average.
Narrator ok, as usual.
Long commutes need something to remove the boredom! Love history, mysteries/thrillers, scifi and bios, but read a little bit of everything.
And for me a new author. This is the first Baldacci book I have read and I couldn't be happier. Great plot line and characters. Excellent narrators. This story keeps you involved all the way through. My only complaint is that I figured out who the antagonists were relatively early in the storyline, but it didn't change my enjoyment of the book. Highly recommended.
This is first David Baldacci novel I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed book hating to pause when life demanded. Will definitely look for more books by this author.
I love a great story -- historical, science fiction, relationship, contemporary nonfiction. I'm a writer so look for great characters.
These novels are well-plotted and unpredictable. Baldacci builds in great twists and turns. He builds 3 dimensional characters and fills in colorful location and historical detail. The actors do agreat job of assuming their characters and varying heir voices and reads for different hats tee. Ron McLarty's pitch is perfect for Baldacxi's heroes. Read them all!
A few too many story lines to weave together realistically. Nevertheless, endearing characters and exciting action sequences pulled it through. Narrator/ narration is great, sound effects use of music, not so much.
Highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys high drama, and larger than life characters. I was riveted from the opening scene, right to the end.
When Robie refused to carry out his orders; however, another did it for him, but I gave him credit for standing up to his high standards, even when up against what could have been his own demise.
The first scene on the bus, when Robie recognized the threat and took action to save Julie.
I was moved by Robie taking care of Julie and keeping her safe even when she rebelled.
Baldacci at his all time best.
