Favorite Series Ever
I agree with Michael J Sullivan's wife, I love Hadrian but Royce is the best character.
Tim Gerard Reynolds does an amazing job of characters. I search for books where he is the narrator. That should explain how much I enjoy his reading.
This is a great series. I enjoyed it so much that I really did listen to it 3 times. It wasn't 3 times in a row but both Riyria series are my favorite. Michael J Sullivan did prequels to this series and then another prequels to that series. I recommend going in publish order but you do not have too. Listening to them in publish order you appreciate how far ahead he thought on some of the details. Wonderfully written story, entertaining for all.The book is low fantasy with thieves, kings, princesses, wizards, dwarfs, and elves.
Very interesting take on magic & power. Lots of fun. New twists & turns throughout. Couldn't stop listening, & can't wait to start vol 2!
These books are amazing Royce and Hadrian are extremely lucky well written characters who portray an adventure that makes you laugh, worry, and cheer all at the same time. highly recommended
Theft of Swords presents an interesting, engaging, and original story that lacks much of the detailed descriptions characteristic of other books in this genre. In a way, it reads more like an Aesop's fable than modern fantasy.
While the characters are well defined by their actions, the author's style is overwhelmingly event-focused, rather than environmentally, situationally, or emotionally focused. This causes the story, while riveting, to lack a certain sense of gravity.
For those looking for light reading, I would recommend Theft of Swords without reservation, despite its intimidating length (it is two full length books combined into one).
A romping good time through a masterfully crafted world filled with the smart antiheroes Hadrian and Royce. You'll laugh out loud, cheer at success, and curse those in their way.
I'm not much of a reader. It's rare that a book will grab me and keep my attention more than a few chapters. After completing both the Revelations and Chronicles Series, I am going to miss Hadrian and Royce. For me, a good book is all about me caring what happens next, and this series has been great from start to finish.
Tim Gerard Reynolds did a great job bringing Hadrian and Royce to life. My only complaint is when he read female voices I felt the characters always sounded slighty weak or almost dumb, which didn't do the characters justice.
Picked this book up on sale looking at the reviews and rating. This is a great story that I think appeals to anyone whether they're into fantasy or not. The main characters are wonderfully developed and bring some pleasant levity. Already picked up the other two books and one of the prequels, looking forward to hearing them.
This is actually two books in one so that caught me a little off guard but I really enjoyed it! The narrator could have done a little more variety with the female characters but does well with the main male characters. Would definitely recommend and plan to listen to the story continued!
