There's a heavy influence of Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser with this series, and I mean that in a good way. Not clones, but if you know that legendary pair of rogues, you'll pick up on it quick enough.
Anyway, damn good book. Get it already. Now, if you'd kindly...
I did struggle to finish this one. it is a very unoriginal, with the usual roles played by elves dwarves etc. it is also highly gender stereotyped and fails the literary equivalent of the Bechtel test.
Exceptional story telling both written and verbal! The story unfolds in unexpected twists, surprises and humor. The characters are very realistic with shadow and light. The ending is unsatisfactory. However, it sets one up for the next book. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story.
this story is better than the shannara chronicles. I highly recommend this title. this is worth a listen.
The story was amazing. I love the combination of politics and religion with a splash of magic. It really was a unique story.
The narrator was also excellent. My only gripe with him was sometimes the voices sounded a little to similar and too many, even with the girls. But he did a great job.
