Love to read!
I was so disappointed with Book 3 that I almost didn't get this book. I'm so glad I gave the series another chance. This is probably my second favorite of the series, right behind Book 1. I really liked the characters, the Oracle and the Djinn. They had great chemistry together and really resisted it at the beginning. The story line was not predictable and took a while to reveal the deception and sinister plot going on underneath. It is definitely worth a listen. I may even listen to it again.
This book to me was just O.K. I am not sure I will listen to any more. I knew want would happen and kind of boring.
The first half of the first book in this series was excellent. It goes downhill from there. I think I am through with this author. I kept hoping to see more of what I really liked in Dragon Bound but I think she put her best first and now it's a real stretch.
It gets 2 stars because, technically, the writing is very good. The author has good pace, nice balance between narrative and dialogue and it is a well constructed story. But that's where it ends.
I just didn't care for the characters. Khalil was interesting -- but it was a little strange that he was a "spirit" who had never made himself into a human. Grace was awful. At one point in the book, she complains about volunteers who help her do yard work (no, it doesn't excuse it because she thinks to herself that she might be ungrateful for complaining).
In the big scheme of things, raising your sister's kids is not that big of a deal -- I know many people who are raising their sister/brother/child's kids and consider it a privilege.
I really don't understand why Grace couldn't get a job...?? Because she had a bum knee from a car accident? I worked as a single mom. I didn't complain and I didn't expect people to show up and do my yard work for free. And if they had, I sure as heck would not have grumbled about them not working hard enough. Geez!
It was a boring story about selfish characters.
I am a scifi/fantasy/mythology reader, and to find a book that incorporates that into a romance novel is wonderful, I found it hard to turn it off to go to bed at night, and listened just about everywhere. Sophie Eastlake did a wonderful job, would have prefered to have a man actually do the male voices.. Would like to have more books in this series, it seems as if there is much more to the story, that the first 4 books were just an introduction to each of the characters. More please.
I have been happily married for 17 years, I have 3 children (12, 14, & 16), and 2 dogs. I am currently working on a 2nd degree. Life is chaotic and stressful, but I wouldn't change it. I am blessed and enjoying my life.
This book was wonderful. I loved the characters, the plot, the humor, the happy ending! The ending makes you smile :) I can hardly wait for the next one!!!
Kudos to the narrator, she did a truly spectacular job with the voices.
Audible addicted love mystery, lately stuck on love story. Mother of 1 Labrador and 1 perfect man. Work way too hard, and so ready to be retired
Loved it funny, mysterious, sexy kept you interested. Love orcale she was not to proud to except help and boy did she need it and the gynn was perfect for her. Totally worth any credit or cost.
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
Too many things I loved to pick a part I liked best.
Great as ever.
I had a few laughs : ).
It's well worth the credit.
The story line is weak. Grace and Khalil character weak.
the only one I liked was dragon bound. After this book I will give up on this author.
The narrator in Dragon bound was good but in this one sucked pretty bad
Grace and Khalil
Please keep the story short and action pack with teasing sexy bits and one errotic action
Absolutely. I love the rest of the books in this series and Sophie Eastlake is my favorite narrator.
I feel like this should have been a novella. Nothing really happened until the last 3rd of the book.
I loved the characters and the overall story line, there was just too much filler.
I wasn't sure I was going to like this one, because the Oracle seemed a little rough in the last book, but I was so wrong! The characters are a little different in this book, but still very well developed and interesting. (Does anyone else envision Tom Hiddleston as Khalil?)
Sophie Eastlake does another outstanding job performing this book. Chloe's voice is adorable and I literally laughed out loud during the dialog between Khalil and Rune. Dude.
