The biggest problem that I have with rereleases is that the social norms, technology, and dress tend to be a bit distracting and glaringly obvious.
The main character Daisy is very likeable.
Yes, her books are well written, they hold your interest
No, I was able to break it up with no problem
This was the ---...uhm AWESOME! AWESOME read! Love the characters and the writing! Linda Howard is PERFECT! Immensley satisfying listen! GO LINDA HOWARD! I need to find more by her...
Absolutely! The narration was great! So was the story! There was some "who done it", some intimacy, and some parts made me laugh out loud.
When a kiss happened in the middle of a sentence - Deborah Hazlett handled it perfectly!
The variations in her voice for the different characters - was just enough. It really made a difference.
I can't pinpoint one. There were several. Some were intimate, and some were cute and funny.
I listened every moment I could.
PLOT: old maid librarian Daisy gets a GRACE KELLY MAKE OVER AND WHILE out at the local dance hall witnesses a MURDER~ 4 STAR fun.
straight laced~~~~Miss Daisy prim 34 year old librarian goes for a new make over and ends up a GRACE KELLY clone ~ she is determined to find a man. As she sets off to the local dance hall her efforts bring on male attention and the UNWANTED advances and attention of the local YANKEE Sheriff~ this is FUN. As the sheriff who loves to tease Miss Daisy is soon attracted to the changes in her. Soon some one is out to KILL Daisy as she witnessed a murder and did not know it. the FIRST part of this book drags a bit as we are bombarded how much of a frump Miss Daisy is SOON jumps to fun and adventure when locals are involved in a human sex trade and a series of murders enter the story. The fun in a Yankee who Daisy has NO desire to date is HOT on her trail for romance and to keep her safe. I give this one 4 stars for fun plot, Sheriff Yankee or not and Miss Daisy who are FUN and a great slant on murder. VERY Good READER and over all 4 STAR tale. this audio was hard to find in unabridged for many years and audible was able to obtain this thank you audible. also released were Mr. Perfect, Now You See her and All the Queens Men in unabridged form~ oldies but goodies
This book moved along at a good pace all the way through the book. This was my first Linda Howard book and I am glad I have found her with the help of other reviewers. Not only romance, humour and some suspense all added up to a delightful book.
I enjoyed Deborah Hazlett's narration, and the ability with the voices. Well done.
I've enjoyed this book for YEARS and was excited to see it was on Audible unabridged. The story is still fabulous and the narrator does a really nice job as well. Totally enjoyable.
I believe there are 3 elements to a great romance audible book: good narration, believable plot, flawed characters and great dialogue!
The plot and romance had potential, Howard just did not pull it off. I felt like so much could have been done with the idea of a librarian turned sexy husband hunter but LH just did not take it there. I felt like Jack's character could have been developed more. The narration was ok, Jack's "yankee" accent was AWFUL!
It was very funny, as well as it kept my interest.
She did the voice with , each persons was different.
Very good book, one of Linds's best.
