It was a cute story, but predictable. The narrator did a great job with the voices and accent.
This was a re-read for me and the second time around I still enjoyed it. The best part of the story was the romance. Linda Howard really knows how to write a believable "I can't stand you" to "I love you" romance. I liked the main characters a lot, but Daisy was so naive, it got to be ridiculous. Still a good listen, though not my favorite Linda Howard book.
I already like Linda Howard, but with this book, there are some down right LOL moments (literally)--wait til the condom box scene. Hee! Yes, there is the romance aspect, but it's also a thriller and suspense. It will keep you on your toes and you'll fall in love with the main characters (including the main woman's aunt and mom). You won't regret getting this book. I listened to it on audio (I like audiobooks while I run or do weights) and the narrator is wonderful. You won't regret giving this book a chance. If you like this one, check out her Medina series.
I guess I can also relate since I grew up in a small town. You'll love Daisy, Jack, Ev, aunt Jo, Todd, etc.
Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm an addict.
This book was the first book I read by Linda Howard and have since read almost everything that she has writen, I was glad to see it on Audible. This is a fun, and simple romance. One of her first where she was trying for a little suspense but didn't quite hit the mark. But fun in the romance section and defiently worth the listen. More favorites by Linda Howard are Mr. Perfect, Now you See Her, and Cover of Night.
love audio books - Anglophile
When I started listening to this unabridged version, I thought I'd downloaded the wrong book. Then I realized that the abridged version didn't have the prologue, which is very dark. What a relief when the story went to Daisy. I enjoy all of Linda Howard's novels, and I'm glad to see that audible now has the unabridged versions of all her books that they carry. Thanks, audible!
This is a fun story to listen to. I enjoyed the whole thing. I would recommend this book to most everyone that enjoys Linda Howards books.
I believe there are 3 elements to a great romance audible book: good narration, believable plot, flawed characters and great dialogue!
The plot and romance had potential, Howard just did not pull it off. I felt like so much could have been done with the idea of a librarian turned sexy husband hunter but LH just did not take it there. I felt like Jack's character could have been developed more. The narration was ok, Jack's "yankee" accent was AWFUL!
It was very funny, as well as it kept my interest.
She did the voice with , each persons was different.
Very good book, one of Linds's best.
One of my favorites from several years ago, but not one to miss. A soon to be spinster librarian decides to redo herself for a manhunt. Bumps into the difficult and dangerous world of singles going to bars and a tough sheriff. A lighter story than some of Howards' but keeps you interested.
The Humor and the two key charachters
She captures the southern inflections and styles of the characters.
This was the best story and narration! I highly recommend this book to any of her fans!
