I always listen to Paul's radio show. His book is just as inspiring.
A must read.

"Even the book is Lean!"
Yes. And I have, because it's full of great information.
"Delivering Happiness" from Tony Hsieh and "Good to Great" from Jim Collins.
While the book is full of time saving advice, the key takeaway for me is that the focus on company culture, because in spite of Paul's efforts to trim a 2 seconds here and there, he spends more than an hour each day NOT building products, but building better people, who in turn become more efficient at build better products.
His philosophy reminds me of the old story of the lumberjack who entered a contest to see how fast he could cut down a tree. Everyone was half way through before he even started, yet he won the race. He was sharpening his axe.
I have listened to over 450 audiobooks, including some that were way too long to get to the point. Paul delivers his message without wasting any words, so the book itself is a great example of efficiency.
Even though the chapters and the book itself are short, he makes it a point to summarize each chapter to make sure the key points stand out. This underscores the message and insures you absorbed it.
Lastly, this is not a Harvard Business School textbook on the merits of bean counting. Paul Akers lives and breathes this lifestyle and his magnetic personality comes through with flying colors.
If you've never seen or heard Paul Akers in action, check out some of his videos online. His energy is contagious.
"Good Story...."
Paul has this ability to sound really "authentic" and he really is into this in a big way. He is genuine and tells a great story...good takeaways...
"More applicable to mfg industry"
I liked the concepts. But much of what was shared was more for the manufacturing industry and less for a general corporate environment. There were good nuggets but wasn't really what I was looking for.
I suppose it would be motivating if I were in a similar environment to the speaker.
Energetic, engaging.
Could, but not necessary.

"Think Lean!"
Very good introduction to lean thinking. The book is short which makes it an ideal introduction. I had a look at the Fast Cap website which also has some more relevant information.
"Shouldn't be an audio book"
Not an audio book.
Not as an audio book. I bought this because it was cheap and I hoped to get some fun examples of "2 minute lean". The book repeatedly referenced videos on the web and this was an integral part of his message. He'd talk about a simple concept and then say "watch this video". He was constantly saying watch this video and that video. If I am listening to a book I am at the gym or in the car and I am not going to write down or remember where to go to see videos. It might have been a completely fine book to be read at home with a computer but I listed at the gym and felt I wasted $5.
"Very Insightful and Inspiring!"
I would listen to 2 Second Lean again. The Narrator was very enthusiastic and inspiring. He makes Lean sound how it actually is- easy to implement and carry out in the work area or at home.
Paul A Akers was very helpful by going off script and giving more than just the paper version.
Purchase the book as well to see all the beautiful pictures and awesome example videos inserted in with QR codes!
"A smarter way of living!"
It ranks at the top because it's a true and common sense way of improving my life!
Paul is very animated and makes the book very enjoyable to listen to! He also has lots of extras in the audio version that aren't in the printed book.
I sure did have an extreme reaction - freaked out at all the time I have wasted in the past, but relieved that I now have new tools so I can make the very most of my time.
Seriously...if our country is going to survive we ALL need to become LEAN!
"Change how you look at the world!"
While there are upsides to both the print and audible versions, Paul's energetic and enthusiastic narration gives the audible version of
Readers learn that progress doesnt have to be a giant daunting challenges, its something you work at a little each day, making improving your life easy and fun and do-able!
There isn't any better value out there for this amount of your time (or money). Two second lean is not just a book/audible, its a life changing concept that you will carry for the rest of your life!
