    "Just OK"

The book was mostly bickering as foreplay. The writer had some unique ideas, but the story didn't put them to good use. I just don't get the bickering part - what a turn off. The characters did change, and that part got better, but not enough to make it really good. It was OK, but nothing I will remember later. Romantic fluff.

    "Oh I love this series..."

Does it ever have to end? The narration and story line is superb, entertaining and page turning. Each character in the book is depicted with style, purpose and motivation.

Now, I'm moving on to the next review of Book 3 which, by the way shall be extremely positive.

"Good Book 2 in the Series"

This is book 2 in the Scoundrels series, and I enjoyed it, but the romance between Jack and Olivia started a bit slow. At first, Jack and Olivia were really mean to each other, which was a bit annoying, but the book picked up speed and captured my attention. The book did have some good twists, and Lorraine Heath is a talented author. There are some dark, evil aspects in the story, especially in Jack's background, but it made you understand Jack and his personality. The narrator is really good, and she also read book 1, which is nice for consistency. Overall, I am enjoying this series and I am looking forward to book 3.

    "The Dodger"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It was a fun and captivating listen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Between the Devil and Desire?

The story time with the heroine's son and Jack. It was about the Dickens story. It was so delightful!

What does Susan Ericksen and Antony Ferguson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It is an extra trigger for the imagination. Susan's characterizations were spot on. I'm all grown up but I still enjoy story time.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Whatever became of the Artful Dodger?

    "Great, fun story!"

Love the 2nd installment in the Scoundrels of St. James series! This story is about the relationship between Jack Dodger (borrowed from the Artful Dodger in Dickens' Oliver Twist) and Olivia, the Duchess of Lovingdon. When Olivia's older husband dies, everyone is stunned when he places known scoundrel and owner of the infamous gaming hall, Jack Dodger, as he guardian of their young son. No one, including Jack, is aware of any connection between them and he does not seem to be particularly well suited to raising a young Duke. Olivia, of course, is horrified, and becomes more so when Jack insists on moving into the home that she shares with her young son. He seems to delight in tormenting her.
This story is fun, fast paced, and interesting and the romance is steamy, but not vulgar. I loved Susan Erikson's narration and really enjoyed learning more about the characters that appeared in the first novel. I cannot wait to listen to the next book. Five stars, indeed!

"Surprised I love it more than Book 1"

I wasn't happy at first about Jack Dodger being the focus in book two of this series and the first I'd say half hour I found the ridiculous behavior from the two main characters annoying, but as you get to know the characters you truly enjoy the unfolding of this complex character Jack Dodger.

The poor man has been through much - you truly ache for him as you discover his pains.

For Olivia (Livi), you understand how she transitions.

I'm not big on explicit sex scenes in books, but recognize this is a romance. However in this book the intimacy was necessary to understand really the unfolding of the characters, both Olivia and Jack. She was repressed. He was protecting himself.

My favorite scene was when he becomes overly turned on by Olivia (not a sex scene just early in their attraction) and he goes to Dodgers and denies his carnal appetite. It is the beginning of him becoming the man he had always been without knowing it.

Truly a nice story - not very realistic that a Duchess would be with him but you love the story all the same.

The little boy Henry grows in importance and that doll makes you cry with joy.

    "Fairly good story."

I don't have any real complaints about this book. The story was generally very good. It wasn't the most exciting book and had a few sections that got a tiny bit boring, but not to the point that I thought about not finishing it. I like the characters and the story line, but I probably won't get another book in the series. I prefer a little more excitement.

The narration was good. It shows that there are two narrators, but the second narrator is only used when reading a letter. I don't think it was necessary for the performance of the book, but it didn't really detract from it.

"Perplexing start with great twist ending!"
If you could sum up Between the Devil and Desire in three words, what would they be?

    Romance with twist!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Between the Devil and Desire?

When he finds out that her son is his half brother.

What does Susan Ericksen and Antony Ferguson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Love hearing the different voices to distinguish characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, though very sad in parts.
