Cussler and Scott always do an excellent job of providing fast paced action with strong historical detail. The imagery is clear and characterizations well drawn. Be prepared to want to finish as seamlessly as you possibly can!
Cussler is definitely one of my favorite authors. This wasn't the best in the Isaac Bell series, but was by no means dissapointing.
Absolutely. The good guy wins in heroic style.
There's always a twist.
I can't sit that long, but listening gets me back and forth to work.
An interesting twist on the history of talking film.
In general I love Isaac Bell's character that always displays integrity, being a gentleman yet will just not give up attempting to solve who is at the center of the crime.
Always Isaac Bell in all the novels thus far.
Very big problem - I simply love all the depictions by Scott - one of my favorite readers.
The more nasty the villans are the more difficult it is to hear or read.

Isaac Bell of the Van Dorn Detective agency has another exciting adventure trying to protect an amazing invention by a German scientist. There are the usual dangerous situations and close calls. Loved it and love Scott Brick as narrator. Love Clive Cussler stories.
I like to listen to books by Clive Cussler and those who co-write with him. The combination of these authors and Scott Brick make for some interesting listening. I have found that I can "take" Cussler books with moderation and in small doses. Took much Cussler for me can lead to disinterest.
Yes. Cussler (and co-authors) usually write entertaining enough yarns. Brick was a good narrator.
The plot did not really go anywhere. Though it lept in the beginning, it tapered off and became more about movie making, which was interesting enough, and secret stealing, and celeb sitings (as characters in the novel), but the story was so slow, hesitant, and meandering that it was difficult to keep following as my mind would flow to something else while my mp3 kept playing.
This is to say that it did not hold my interest.
He has a good strong voice, he reads well, and has enough inflections to help one's ear discern a change in character's. He does this without falling into the trap of being too showy or theatrical thus making the listening experience about him instead of the novel.
I would have sent this back to the author for a total re-write. You want to make a parlor mystery Hollywood novel, or a spy filled adventure chase? Make up your mind, choose one, and stick with it.
I love this series featuring Isaac Bell, and would recommend any other book in that series in the place of this one.
If you have enjoyed the previous Bell stories then you will enjoy this one. I really love the time period these books are in. If you enjoy Cussler or Bell get the book
Main character and competition with the villian. Really good chess match.
All of Scott's performances are good IMO.
People may think I am crazy but I really enjoyed the Epilogue. Really was a nice ending to the book.
