Wished it would have been sooner
Alright, a little too technical, long
You'll be here all day
More valuable to someone with less knowledge of nutrition or less of a scientific outlook.
Lacked details of the medical evidence substantiating his claims for the links between diet and diseases.
This is a really good examination of the types of foods we should be eating a why. The why part takes up chapters 1-14. To get to the plan, just start around chapter 15.
Warning: this book is very political.
That may not bother you if you either agree with his politics (think ObamaCare) or if you can ignore them long enough to listen to the many good ideas about nutrition that are presented here. But if your blood pressure gets raised at the very mention of health care politics, it might be healthier for you to avoid this book.
The author clearly knows his stuff as the book is very well researched and his ideas are presented in a clear format. The author is the narrator, and he does a wonderful job of reading his own material. His plan is understandable and doable, but the general ideas about how to choose food - what to eat and what to avoid are, to me, the meat of the book.
Speaking of meat, I found him to be very open minded - he won't tell you that you have to be a vegetarian or a vegan to eat well, he just presents various ideas that you can choose from to find the best nutritional plan for you. He also addresses the use of a variety of vitamins and supplements.
Another warning: if you're not just looking for ideas, but considering following the plan he outlines, you may want to consider getting the print version. This is also true for some of the more complex suggestions (vitamin and supplement usage).
Personally, I liked the book so much that I bought the digital Kindle version for my phone so that I can pay closer attention to the details. The book did not receive a perfect score because I prefer my nutritional advice without a side of politics. Apart from that, I thought it was a great listen, and I will probably listen to parts of it again.
If it was a hard copy book I would have tossed it in the first refuse bin I came accross. Perhaps I am not suited to the "go to my website........blah blah blah" style. Luckily it was just $4.95
A revolutionary way to think about the health of your body and the food you eat.

I did not like how the author/narrator Mark Hyman, M.D. read the book. It seemed like he wasn't taking it seriously with a laughing rhythm to his voice. I felt like he was joking the entire time.
There were many calls to action, but not enough clear cut advice.
Someone else should have read it.
It does make you think about your health, your input, and how most food and beverages we consume have no nutritional or redeeming values to it.
the author brings the passion to life.
real advice for a major problem in health care

Solid advice about how to improve your health and life

Already making health differences in my life. With the audio being around 8 hours, I listened and walked the whole time, knocking out about 26 miles or an entire marathon.
