I am an avid reader! Now I guess an avid Listener. I am addicted to Audible, and love how it keeps me focused when I am trying to get my work done. I am also a really fun kids entertainer... some Adults too!
Samuel Jackson did the best he could with this so so story. I really didn't like the story iat all. The main character was pitiful.
No, well maybe, but only with a warning. The story doesn't seem to end. It just stops.
Anne Perry's "Angels in the Mist"
Mr. Jackson has a wonderful voice. It's the only thing that kept me listening to the book. If I were reading it, I don't think I would have finished it.
No, I doubt it very much.
This book was a real disappointment for me. I love Samuel Jackson as an actor and he has a wonderful very expressive voice. I wish he had chosen a better venue.
No, the author is very creative and did a very good job is making the story come to life. Unfortunately the story in itself was not worth the time spent. I didn't find one character in this story that I could relate too or care what happen to them. I may give the series with Grave digger another shot as they were not main characters.
The story was just ok. I'm not sure about the factuality of the era or not but it was a hard life kind of story and not my normal read (listen). Other will most doubtfully enjoy it.
The story was not even interesting.
The narration was good.
I loved listening to Jackson at first but by the end of the book, Amabell's voice was on my last nerve.
I think it is a fine book, for it's genre, just not my 'cup of tea'. I might like it better as a movie but as a book it was well-written, narration was right-on, and it held my interest.
I suppose if I was asking for a re-write for me (alone), I would ask for a bit of paranormal activity in the book.
I have not read anything by Chester Himes before.
Samuel L. Jackson did a great job of narrating. He did a superb job of the dialect and he did each voice distinctly.
It could be a very good movie. I would cast Samuel L. Jackson in the lead role.
