I don't know I haven't read the print version
Yes. It took me a few minutes to get the pattern of going back and forth between the past and the present, but I couldn't put the book down and listened to it through an entire day.
I thought Hayne's description of the OCD behaviors and the PTSD symptoms were very well done and I honestly believe that this book will be helpful to anyone who suffers from OCD and hasn't sought help.
Loved to listen to Karen Cass's narration, I was continually engaged by her chracterizations and accents. Mr. Thorpe was not as prominent in the narrative, but did a fine job as well.
I am disappointed that she only has one other book and that it has been given a 3 star rating. I will listen to a sample and decide it it will live up to this one.
Everyday is a New day!
This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! Wondering will she get this problem under control, will she ever be free, is he going to come back for her? It really opened my eyes to what the after math of something like this can do to someone.
Her checking the doors, windows, drawers everything she checked on a continuous basis, you felt so sorry for her. I knew there was a reason for the checking but didn't know the extent of it and you just cant stop listening.
It made me thankful for the people in my life.
5 stars is i love and i will read agani and again. 1 is i hate and i never want to hear about it ever again. YES = :))) - NO= :'(
I loved this book for many reasons.
2-How one person could change completely from normal to a high case of OCD
3-THE Narrator WAS SOOOOO GOOOOOD. loved the accent and she did a great job in this book.
and so many other reasons, but its better to grab this book and have a listen to it....
P.S. focus on the years as you might get confused in the beginning of the book.
Cheers and Enjoy.
Dark underbelly exposed
Damaged people can recover, and be stong once again
A bit tedious in the beginning, didn't expect the British accents, also the the OCD...But that soon faded as I got into the story. Good story line, lots of suspense, makes one wonder how often this happens in real life.
yes - it tells abuse as close to real as I ever hear
very well read.
I loved this as it told about abuse in ways that need to be told - it is as if the author actually experienced this...I did not notice if it was a true story or not but it was VERY close to my abuse story.
Karen Cass' English accent was awesome. I really enjoyed the different vernacular and couldn't stop listening due to the engaging story. The ending was a surprise.
Everything about this book was pretentious. There was nothing good to say about the heroin who spent her free time after work, hanging out in bars and drinking to excess.
She met a man who she soon found to be abusive and controlling. Instead of backing away from the relationship, she committed herself, deeper. Knowing he had the means to find her wherever she went, she never had the insight to get the heck out of the country. The fact that even her friends did not support her, should have given her the heads up to get away when she finally had the opportunity. The author spent far too much time in describing the sexual abuse and torture. And, the story did not have to take as many chapters. The first chapter was interesting and then the story went downhill from then on. Instead of being suspenseful; this story was, predictable.
Gripping Psyche Rush
The plot is revealed like two trains headed for a collision! You can see it coming, know it will happen, but can't scream.
I love the inflection & accents)
The moment Kathy decided to face her fears:)
In addition to being a page turner, it offered insight into abuse, OCD, and PTSD.
What I liked best about this story is that it was different then your normal thrillers and it did keep you in suspense.
I love audio and ebooks but only give them a 5 if they hold my attention. An avereage story gets a 3 . Thrillers & Crime are my favorites.
I accidentily listened to the second part first without realizing it; I found its concept interesting and some parts were quite intense but the filler was very slow and often rather repetitive. I also found the main character to be a bit of an idiot. Once I got to the end and the next section started to play I became aware of my mistake and did not feel any need to listen to the first half....it would not add a thing.
The performance was good but I just don't understand this story gets rated so highly. I was often bored.
