As much as I love music, I'd rather listen to a book. I love being taken far far away while doing everything.
I started to listen after I saw the movie. I wanted more information. Love this book!!! I was a little skeptical of Scott Brick at first because I haven't heard him before, but he moves the story so much better than all the other samples I listened to.
I love the love hate relationship between all the characters. I have to listen to the rest of the series!
Yes, It kept my interest from start to finish, and I plan to get the next book in the series.
Say something about yourself!
Fun, thrilling, otherworldly
I do not want to give anything away.
It made me laugh, hold my breath, and to get more of the series
The 1st book of many written in the early 1900s. It is amazing that the author had so many insights on the devices of the future (present day). It is also amazing how many of today's authors are impacted by Edgar Rice Burroughs. This story wasa fun and enjoyable listen during my drive to and from work.
The narrator is superb and really sells the characters well. The story itself is the quintessential hero story and demonstrates the characteristics of a classic true hero, not the popular modern anti-hero that has become so prevalent.
Definitely the main character: John Carter. Unlike the "hero" in so many modern stories, John Carter represents traits that are ideals. He is painted as the hero that people should want to aspire to be and I find that very refreshing and inspiring.
again, John Carter. Scott just sells the confidence and self-awareness that seems so central to the character.
many many. The fact that the ending had me yelling "Noooo!" in my car really speaks to the writing ability of Burroughs. I simply HAD to get the next book in the series immediately and learn what happened next.
Just the crazy creative aspects of it
Probably his first experiences on Mars
Obviously John Carter
I loved it
This was so radical for it's time
I am 57 year old love scifi and I can get lost just listening to my books.
Saw the movie so I desighted to get the book. Best book that I have heared I can not get enough So I started reading all the John Carter books So far I am at #5. I hope they make the movies on these books Can not wait to see them. I highly recommend these books to hear or read See you on Barsoom.
When John Carter gets to be with his Princess.
Yes! I am a long time fan of ERB and have hoped over the years for more audio versions of his books. I had listened to an earlier version, however when I saw that Scott Brick had recorded another version of the Martian Trilogy, I couldn't resist listening again. I wasn't sorry.
John Carter, it's all about him.
All of them!!!
A movie had been made and butchered. Should have titled the movie same as the book.
This is great Sci-fi and I enjoyed it as much as I had 70 years ago in book form.
This is the third time I have purchased A Princess Of Mars from Audible. Finally, something worth listening to! Thanky you Tantor Media for finally hiring a good reader.
I chose this production of the book because of the reviews of other readers. I think Scott Brick did a very good job. I've listened to samples of some of the other readers some of them are abysmal.
I've always loved reading Edgar Rice Burroughs, he captivated the essence of the human experience by pitting people with extraordinary character and willpower in uncharted worlds and told the tale of how they fought through it all for life love and happiness.
This book is no different. After the first time I READ this book, I wanted to go out and see what I was made of in this crazy world known as Earth. Scott Brick, the person who read this story, I gave five stars due to the fact that he still kept that feeling alive after i finished listening to this novel. John Carter is a book that anyone who is facing the odds in their life should read mainly because it will most certainly fuel them to beat the living crap out of their challenges they face. Well read Mr. Brick!
Since this is the first book I've listened to on tape, other books that I've read would be other works by Edgar Rice Burroughs, mainly the title "The Land that Time Forgot."
No I have not but I look forward to it.
It made me want to climb a mountain with my bare hands.
