I was very excited about this book, but 15 hours into it and I found myself depressed. I wish the story would have moved faster. I stopped listening after 15 hours because the story was becoming redundant. The Narrator did on ok job, but he had a nasally almost cartoonish quality to his voice. This is th e 2nd Stephen King book in a row I did not like.
Yes, over the years, I all ready have. Multiple times
Diversity of the characters
I like Grover, and I also liked reading the book. Both are great.
The author uses the unknown masterfully to create suspense with help from the reader's imagination. Unfortunately I felt this began to break down in the second half. Good story, and an enjoyable read, but I wish I would have gotten the abridged version, as some parts of the story that made me sick would have been removed.
Started off slow but finally grasp my attention towards the end. As usual narrator Gorver Gardner always takes you there. I just love the transitions in his voice. A true natural.
The character building in this novel was FANTASTIC! I had seen the made for TV movie before reading the book so some of the characters already had faces but with the detailed back story the novel gave those faces actually changed! It was great!
This was the book that got me started on End of World or Dsytopian fiction. I first read (and re-read) this book years ago and this was on my must get list for Audible. This story goes into the characters and their motivations and keeps you interested. Listening to the all too real description of how the plague progresses will get you worried.
It is a Stephen King story, so the digressions are many - but i never felt like they were pointless. I like knowing things that are going on around the story as well as in it.
Excellent narration, well worth the time it takes to listen to. It is also a good book to relisten to different parts of if you have a space of time to fill and want to revisit a good story.
Like most of SK's work, please don't judge this book by the TV mini-series, which I thought was vapid. There is too much going on that just cannot translate to TV or movies. It is a well thought out story and the characters are not perfect, but that makes them easier to relate to.
Loved the book, liked the movie, and the audio is FANTASTIC
Many other works by King, but this will always be my favorite book by him
I was completely captivated by how well he captured the emotion of the story, and he was wonderful with the voices
I rank it #1 in adult fiction
The level of detail is incredible. I have always thought S. King liked to use words on full spread, but his writing style for this book paints a picture in your imagination that is so amazing in detail, you are way too deep before you realize how scared you are.
Yes! Fortunately it is way too long to accomplish this.
Simply The Best.
The Walking dude
If I could I would have
This is the kind of book that you will be sitting around one day and start thinking about the charaters and thinkng if they were real what they would be doing now.
