Story is quite engaging
Have read most of the J.D. Robb 'in Death' series so was looking forward to this audio version while on a long car trip.
Felt that the narrator made the story drag a bit and was somewhat shrill
Disappointing overall given high expectations
narrator was a disappointment. voice did not fit Dallas and was distrracting
All J D Robb were good to read...would not like to listen to another with this narrator
This is, as far as I can remember, the first Audible book I could not finish. I have listened to hundreds of Audible books, including at least a couple of J.D. Robb selections. I am also having a problem getting through The Stand by Stephen King, and I really like his novels. So maybe it is just me.
Nothing hit be as a best. The interviews were boring. The lack of suspense a disappointment.
One disappointment will not stop me from enjoying future books.
She is always good in character voices. Sadly, this story line makes it difficult to tell the actor from our regular Roak.
No. I would see others in the series.
I am a retired Court Reporter and I LOVE books. All kinds of books but my favorites are mysteries and period books. I like civil war books and some biographies.
I really enjoy the Eve Dallas series but this one is the best because she's stopped with the "poor little me's" and is back being the great character she really is.
Improving the the quality of the narrator would probably make this book tolerable. After listening to audio books for the past three to four years, this is the worst experience I have had and the only book I could not finish or develop any interest or understanding as to the plot.
The voice of the narrator was so distracting; it felt like a complete mismatch with the character.
Don't know -- could not get that far into the story.
Of course, and have, many times! Eve Dallas, her hubby Roarke and her whole case of characters are hard to surpass...JD Robb aka Nora Roberts writes relationships, not just those between men and women, but those between families and friends, better than anyone else I've ever read. She keeps you on your toes w/ the suspense, lol with the wise cracking, and snorting with the epic stupidity of mankind. How can you NOT love these books?
Well, Ha. That's not as easy as it should be. I want to say Roake, because...he's ROARKE. But truly, it's Eve. She's a woman who has overcome so much in her life, and while she has let it harden her outer shell, and she carries scars, she's not let it ruin her life. It's been fun over the years to see her reluctantly gather friends and loved ones in spite of herself, and see her grow even more into the woman she is. She's what every woman aspires to be.
Peabody. LOVE the way she does her voice...it kills me. I can just see Peabody's face sometims when she's talking its so vivid. If they ever cast a movie, I don't think I could watch. Susan Ericksen has made these characters come to life for me so vividly they can't ever be replaced. I originally started listening because I was 3 books behind...ha. I loved her portrayal of the characters so much that I now own EVERY one of the books in audio. Even though I'd read them all from day 1, it was like starting from scratch because they BECAME these voices for me.
Celebrity In Death ~ or was it?
I've bought many other audio books just because Susan Ericksen narrated them, she's that awesome to listen to. Sometimes I'd swear that more than one person HAS to be narrating!
I get so excited sometimes about writing a review..good or bad...that why sometimes I misspell words..lol..
Im hooked on these series of Dallas books!! They have so many twist & turns...humor, romance, danger, suspense..JD Robb does a great job! Also they have the perfect narrator in Susan Ericksen...I cant get enough of these books! LOVE..LOVE..LOVE them!
A pure joy
too much to list
Susan makes it exciting and interest. I love when she does Rouke's voice
