I am a big fan of thrillers. I only give stories a 5 rating if it really keeps my attention and makes we anxiously wait to see what's next!
The DD Warren series continues to provide strong police thirllers. This one had a great twist that was unexpected relative to who the main suspect/victem really is. Througout most of the story you are led to belive one thing only to discover something quite different. I'd say more but don't want to spoil it. If you like prior Gardnier books you will love this one too!
There were a few times when I arrived home after listening in my car I had to put my earbuds in and keep listening to see what happened next.
it's a good story with really good narration. Am a Lisa Gardner fan to the nth. degree. Her stories get you involved with the characters and that is what I like the most about her writing style. The book itself was a little predictable but still enjoyable. Kirsten Potter is a great narrator which makes the book hold your interest. Overall is worth the listen.
Yes, but I don't usually listen to something twice.
Charlene Rosalyn Carter Grant :)
The little boy, Jesse, was well written. It sounded like a little boy thinking and talking. I appreciate that it wasn't too graphic as well.
This was my first Lisa Gardner book, I will look for more.
I actually really enjoy Lisa Gardner's books, but this is the first book that I actually started liking D.D. Warren. Is it just me or is she always wrong? But I found this book to be pretty enjoyable and I like the narrator she's not cheesy. Although I did find this book to be somewhat predictable.
Good, confusing, suspenseful
I am not sure I had a favorite. DD seemed a little whiney this go round So maybe Alex was may favorite
It would have made a big difference if the narrator would have distinguished the voices better. I would be listening to DD Warren and the narrator would transition to the other character with out missing a beat. I was unable to notice the switch until she said her name ir relived some part of the childhood memory, etc. It was frustrating to keep having to rewind and start again with the correct character in my head. I feel like listened to this book twice and sometimes three times just to get it right -- the first time through
I am uncertain
The story itself was a good twisted tale. Improvement from the narrator would have made the story much more enjoyable.
This is one of those audiobooks you want to stay in your car to listen to. Well done!
Several interesting twists
Tulip :). Think Abagail was the best drawn character.
I found this narration sometimes hard to follow. The narrator didn't have enough distinction between character's voices. With so many male and female characters, it helps to have at least two different narrators, or one who can make the characters voices sound more different from one another.
Some sadness, thinking of the terrible things children suffer at the hands of adults they trust
This book was nicely balanced. I've listened to many in the series and sometimes the DD Warren character sounds too snarky and cynical. Here, I like how the author changes her ever so slightly now that she's become a Mother. And we get to know more about some of the minor recurring characters, too. Wink and a nod to the Quincy characters making cameo appearances. This author still keeps me guessing, so a delightful listen even when the subject matter is difficult. There is something about the way Gardner writes -- sometimes so honest it surprises me.
Hard to put this book down as a thriller with lots of plot turns. The story itself wasn't that believable, but it did keep one wondering what was going to happen next!
Although the story line was excellent, I could hardly get past all the profanity. The
Didn't really care for this narrator. Listen to the sample before you purchase.
Fascinating story line for those of us who love police drama! Very well written & exceptional narrator! Can't wait for Lisa's next book!
