This was my first book listened to which was written by Lisa Gardner. I knew who Detective D.D. Warren was from a t.v. movie that I liked. Having not read any Det. Warren books before, I still gave this one a listen because the synopsis sounded interesting. I wasn't disappointed. I felt I had enough background about Det. Warren to get her personality, without having to rely on what was brought out in other books. I even liked the bad guy. The plot was good and kept me interested throughout the book. The narrator did a good job a portraying the female non-nonsense "cop" voice, but could have used a different approach when speaking in Charlie's first person voice. However, it wasn't distracting and I would listen to another book ready by Kirsten Potter. I would definitely read another Lisa Gardner and specifically another Detective D. D. Warren book.
I love audio books. As I spend hours a day driving they keeps me going. Thank you great performers and delightful writers.
The books I have read by Lisa Gardner are all twisted and have children that are hurt. This one has more twist that a candy cane....Kirsten Potter did a great job giving the charactors their own personalties...Made the morning drive enjoyable
I’m a huge fan of Lisa Gardner; she always delivers on an intriguing and captivating storyline. She keeps you guessing or at times second guessing. I really thought about what I would do and how I would prepare if a killer was stalking me with a specific date to commit the crime. Would I disconnect from the people I love? Could I trust the people I love? Do you place your trust in strangers? Are they really strangers? I guess it boils down to Flight or Fight. I choose FIGHT, and I hope you would too!
Say something about yourself!
If your child's therapist has sent her home telling her not to eat what you cook or take any meds you give her and your daughter is 16 and then she tells you just what the therapist told her and she NEVER NEVER NEVER wants to see that therapist again, you may need to let a few years pass before you listen to this book. I certainly did. Given the recent incident, I would never have bought it had I known it concerned Munchausen's. The dumb thing in my case was my child's age. I don't think there has ever been a child over 6 or 8 that will take the abuse. It ends when they are toddlers and learn to talk.
The book kept me guessing to the end so it was a real whodunit. Writing was acceptable. The new parents crying baby and lack of sleep was a bit overdone but it was a good listen--9 years after the crazy shrink.
great idea story
I thought the DD and her personal life
this was a great story -- Lisa Gardner rocks her stories are always hard to figure out who and why and when
This was probably one of the best books in the series. You see a softer side of D.D. Warren. Just when you think you might have the killer figured out, it throws you for a loop. It was a phycological thriller worth listening to. The research for this book was shown in the writing. I could simply could not stop listening to it. I was late to serveral events due to not wanting to turn it off. GREAT BOOK!
Charlie- she was both a victim and survivor.
Be Brave- We all have to die sometime.
Started off a little slow but I soon found myself hanging on every word. Just when I thought I'd figured it out, it would change. Each morning I was looking forward to listening.
I'm terrible at writing reviews, but I do love to listen to a good book. Been a member since 2006, very happy to be an Audible friend.
Enjoyed the characters, the story kept my attention thought the book, narrator was good.
Yes, It kept me guessing what was going on. I was able to deduce some of it, but not all of it, which kept my interests.
Enjoyed the performance. Made the story pop
