This book was ok for me all the way around. The premise was interesting - a woman approaches Detective DD Warren, explaining that she's going to be murdered in a few days, and she wants DD to have all the information she needs to find her killer. The woman, Charlene Rosalind Carter Grant, believes this because her two best friends were murdered the same day, one year apart. That day is fast approaching.
As interesting as it was, that part of the story didn't quite live up to the hype for me. I thought Warren spent too much time trying her best to discredit Charlene, and not enough actually trying to figure out who was trying to kill her. And there were so, so many side plots. Enough that I was having trouble keeping up with who was who and who belonged to which side plot. There was a string of murders she was trying to solve, a child molestation side plot, internet predators, DD's own life as a new mother trying to balance home and work, and another one involving DD trying to get through a visit from her parents; it was a lot for one novel. The narration went back and forth between Charlene's first person chapters and DD's third person. There were occasionally very short chapters which were some sort of instruction in how to kill a person and get away with it, presumably by Charlene's would-be killer.
Kristin Potter did a fine job with the narration. There wasn't anything stand-out about it, either positive or negative. I would certainly not shy away from anything else she narrates.
I did listen to it again--right away. I love a good thriller and wanted to be sure I remembered the details. It definitely puts you out of your comfort level.
I like Dee Dee Warren as a main character that I've followed through several books.
The narrator doesn't have enough change in her voice from Dee Dee Warren to the main character who is at the center of the story. I found myself questioning who was speaking several times.
looking forward to the next Dee Dee Warren in the series.
Find My Killer
Yes, it was a pretty good book. My 3rd by this author.
Kristen was pretty good. I would listen to her again.
Well, this is listed as a Detective D.D. Warren book and she is touted as this great detective, but Charlene pretty much solved most of this herself. She was the heroine and the protagnonist.
I did enjoy the twist and turns and did like being surprised about the antagonist. Was a good story.
yes I like her book's, some are better than others.
yes, I Like her book's, it's just that this one didn't keep me in suspense, but all in all she does have some good book's.
The book was just O.K. and it all fairness it was good, I just rated it a 3 because I just wanted more suspense in it.
Yes I could see it being made into a movie, but no Idea of who the star's would be.
I like Lisa Gardner's book's, some are better than other's, as in other book writer's,
Live life like a kid in a candy store!
While I couldn't wait to get back to the listening each time and I thought the book was very good, she relies on a few really BIG coincidences to get it done. If you can ignore that you will really enjoy this book!
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
Thanks to Audible, I no longer read books in print version.....Thanks Audible! The audio was fantastic!
I have always enjoyed DeDe Warren and getting to know more about her life is great, I have read her from the start. There is also some mention of other characters, though minimal, that was good to hear they were still around ie....Pierce Quincy.
I loved her narration of the book, the characters came to life!
No real extreme emotion to this book, just couldn't stop listening....
This story had me involved from the very beginning! My heart pumped for the suspense and twisting drama! Loved all of the characters and Kirsten Potter did a fantastic job with her narration!
I will look for another book by Lisa Gardner and/or a book narrated by Kirsten.
Always. It had twists, but not so much that you didn't have a clue. It was neat to see that the people you thought were bad were bad and good were good. ---if you figured it out--or thought you did =)
I do not think I have listened to her but I will look for her name now
Facts of the story were fed to you in a way that you always feel on the verge of piecing it all together, but never quite do until the end. Great listen!
This was a good read. The story line was unusual and the author set up unique twists and turns throughout the book. Although it wasn't one of the best books I've ever read, I still enjoyed reading this book.
