I've listened to this book more times than I can count! The characters are real and relate-able and the story line is intriguing!
I love the main characters struggle for truth of who she is and self perservation
Definitely the death lilies!
YES! I did!
I received an email from Audible. I mean who hasn???t gotten an email from them ???helping??? us to find books to spend our credits on? So it suggested some good romance books for me???cause that???s my area of interest. Like a stupid, blind, propaganda-following-fool, I put this book in my Wish List. The reviewers were raving about it and so, not having ever read this author, and wanting something new???I took the plunge???apparently into a toilet bowl of lies, melodramatic plant infested storylines and absolutely NO ROMANCE whatsoever. About three fourths of the way into the boring listening experience I wondered if there would ever be anything even remotely resembling a romantic scene. So I went to my local bookstore and found a copy of this book. Here it is people: There are 390 pages and the first kiss between the main characters starts at page 369. It???s so un-noteworthy that the ???sex??? scene is a whole three sentences long. I???m not into porn on earphones, but could I get a little bit more finesse in there that could possibly mollify me after hours of listening to the main characters being caught and released so many times I felt like I was listening to a fishing show? No. Absolutely damn not. Such a waste of a credit it makes me wanna hurl. All of you who gave this a good review need to go and get a clue. Audible needs to yank this thing out of Romance and put it where it belongs: In the sincerely-boring Fantasy section. I should have just listened to the radio. It???s free.
I loved the story.
It was exciting from the begining and never got bored.
Happy that there is already the second book to this series.
YES and YES, great listen. Great Story! I want more.
She does a great job as always. She has a great voice.
The next magically Love story.
I want the next book in the series!!!
I loved the world that was created with this book. Good sexual tension but not much sex. Kind of nice to have a slow build in the book. Overall good book.
Yes, although I had to go to bed, I got up early the next morning to begin listening again..
I have found a new genre,
Held my attention from the first was hard to put down.
The story line.
Love the accent she used.
I don't know if I liked it as much as I like Poison Study, but I seriously could not put this book down. There were points that got a little convoluted but I was so swept up in the rest of it that I didn't let it bother me much. Just when I thought it was going to end and be wrapped up with a neat little bow, the book would take you on another twist and it constantly kept me wondering how the hell is Avery going to get out of this or that fix. Definitely picking up the next book ASAP.
This is the first in a really great trilogy. The narrator did a great job, and the story kept a really good pace. The plot is about a struggle between powerful people (and former schoolmates) for leadership and rule of a land. The main character, who has been personally effected by decisions made by those powerful people, has the difficult task of understanding why good people do bad things as she tries to "pick sides". The twists and turns make it hard to put down. There is nothing predictable about this story line.
I would because many of my friends like books along these types of story lines and it's a little different than the others we have read. I love the time period too!
Honestly picking a favorite is hard. They all have pasts that are revealed through out the story little by little that keep them all leaving ou wanting to know more!
My favorite is when the lead female character connects with the death lilly, there is a lot of info and questions from that one scene that sticks with you through the rest of the book.
Humans and Nature Meet as Equals!
Gabra Zackman does a decent job with the voices. There are a lot of male voices to portray and she does her best to give each one a unique quality. The emotion given during the read is o.k. not the best but not the worst by any means. The great story line kept me hooked no matter the narration anyway!
