I already have. This is an incredible book. From the first chapter you begin to understand your "why do I do that", "why did I do that", "why can't I stop doing that".
As the second chapter progressed I found myself thinking I will be successful in my desire to get into shape. I've wanted to know why I have had such a hard time. Now I know. I think this is such a great find. I have my business partner reading it and we talk about it every day as we progress through the chapters.
Every single word is one you want to hear. Get it.

There's only 2 people in my life that actually have mastered willpower. Everyone else, including myself should go through this course at high school and every 3 years there after.
I actually have a lot better will power now! I am working better, sleeping much better and understand when I'm stuffing up.
Whilst Walter Dixon did a great job and it was very well narrated I REALLY missed listening to Kelly McGonigal's voice. She's got such a beautiful voice and I loved watching her TED talk and online interviews.
In fact, Kely not being the narrator is probably the biggest downside.

EVERYONE should listen to this... at least twice!
A combination of entertainment and practical strategies. Logically explains with great insight and evidence the WHY of willpower failures and methods to attempt to overcome them. No doubt, results will take some time and persistent use of strategies to enjoy the maximum effect of doing the things that serve long term goals rather than following cravings, however strategies can be immediately implemented with some immediate results as well (not always a given regarding willpower advice...). What has really helped has been near constant listening to this audiobook again and again for three days, with so much repetition I couldn't stop picking up strategies that I could apply to the many daily temptations there are!
The only caveat about this recommendation might be that this is the first actual book I've really read on Willpower and self-control, so coming to it fresh, it was amazing, everything was helpful. No doubt, this book is INFINITELY better than the many blogs and websites out there on self-discipline. But I suspect even for veterans of this topic, there will be some highly interesting insights, particularly about the difference between dopamine induced arousal/craving and actual enjoyment.
I would only say that I wished there was a little more advice with strategies that can help you perform tasks that you need to but don't want to perform, not that weren't any, but a lot more of the practical strategies leaned towards handling how to say no to things. Ultimately, more than worth buying!
The narrator is wonderful. The book makes perfect sense. I can't wait to start trying some of the tips.

His voice keeps the research interesting. If I was reading a book I might tend to get bored.
I focus mainly on History, Endurance Sports and Science/Speculative Fiction books.

Each study presented is memorable, and let you realize the way your brain works is consistent with others. Fascinating case studies that make each vignette memorable.
Audible is a great format for self help books. This would not be something I normally read, but I wanted a change of pace. Water Dixon did a good job. His approach did not sound academic but accessible and made me want to continue and finish the entire book. I really enjoyed it and found myself discussing it with friends.
Read Books, Movies are a Waste of Time.
I would recommend this book. You should not think that you "need willpower" to read it. This is good information for any self reflecting, thoughtful person. It will help you monitor your emotions, thoughts and put into action things you want to do - not just react to.
I usually like to listen/read books where I get lost in a story. These types of books do not fit into that category, however as a change of pace I think they are generally helpful and can guide self reflection. I recommend this version highly.
The author wrote the book based on years of experience teaching college courses on the science of willpower, so she's had lots of time to work with the material and see what stories and approaches worked better or worse with her students. The narration unfolds in a friendly tone and is very easy to listen to. The anecdotes and scientific citations are clear and also easy to follow and understand. The logic makes sense. There's a good dose of easygoing humor interspersed as well. In short, it is like listening to a good professor's lecture, one who knows how to keep her students' interest. I never got bored with the book and immediately began listening to it again from the beginning once it ended. I listen during my daily commute, and listening in half-hour or so portions was just fine. The narration is well done and not difficult to listen to. Walter Dixon's voice is comforting and not distracting. It's not read too fast, nor does it drone on. He knows when and where to put the right emphasis and inflections to keep help keep your attention. The subject matter is fascinating and very helpful to understand. It is an excellent look into the the human mind-body-emotion relationship and how it works, and what we can do to better manage our lives if we can learn how to understand and balance these three elements. This has been a very helpful book I will listen to over and over again until it's lessons become an ingrained part of my daily life.
Classics, history, historical fiction, marketing, Napoleonic stuff and of course 'Boys own Adventure'. This is my bent. Occasional self help as well.
I thought this was going to be a 'self help book' and in some ways it is, but it is more science than affirmations or motivation. Basic message is 'pay attention'. I think this book is worth listening to especially if you have moments of weakness or are trying to change something in your life, it will help, not a silver bullet but good advice.
There are some great new ideas in the book along with affirmation of some old ones. It gives you a plethora of tools to dissect, analyze and hopefully cure whatever challenge is troubling you. Myself being perfect often had the thought while listening " Holy Crap! my wife needs to listen to this book!!" I have suggested this to her and when she lets me back in the house I'll let you know if it has helped her too. I had several things in my life I wanted to change and I can honestly say after the book, a couple have gotten better and one, the important one, 100% change in the right direction.
The jokes are at times BAD but you cannot help but laugh at them.
Really needs a new narrator. But don't let that deter you from listening
