Yes. The narration of Lorelei King is always a treat, She really brings to story to life. also I can drive, vacuum, cook and listen too. I Can't do any of that with the print version!
The cast of characters and the humor.
A good narrator can give a character a depth that I sometimes miss in a print version. I judge Ms. King to be a very good narrator.
When Charlie passes on a message it almost always gets me.
I enjoyed this book but it seemed to me that Charlie's constant flippancy and sarcasm became overwhelming. At times I just sort of became numb to it and missed some of the most humorous lines. It just seemed a bit heavy handed in the first half of this book. By the end of the book Charlie has a lot to think about and has maybe grown up a bit too. So I get why the author wrote it that way, it's just a little overdone.
I want to find books that flirt with and then seduce me. I want reads with lasting power, leaving me breathless and aching for more!
Charlie Davidson is back for another installment of in-your-face sass, sarcasm, and sexiness. Of all the characters I've read, I think Charlie is the one I'd most like to sit down with and share a cup of coffee (well, an IV drop of coffee for her and a nice warm tea for me).
This delightful audiobook kept me sitting in the car long after I reached my destination just so I could squeeze a bit more mileage out of the story. We have more humor than a car brimming with clowns and some extra steamy Reyes scenes. Plus there's the delightful banter with Swopes and regular "Gilmore Girls-esque" banter with the ever-popular Cookie. Throw in some extra special twists and you'll enjoy love, laughter, outrage, sadness, and hope all in one book.
PS Don't forget "desperation" for book four to be released! (Edit: Oh snap! It is already released. Score! I'm downloading for Audible.com right now. Squeeee!)
I enjoy mysteries, thrillers, fantasy mysteries with romance and of course toss in some laughs and what a listen!
I much prefer the audio version to the print edition by far. Lorelei King makes the story come alive with her interpretation's of each character in the book. Reading it would be boring. The audio book was very exciting!
There were several memorable moments in the book that had so much emotion from laughter, sadness, anger, shock and intense pain. Charley has been disappointed regarding all the men in her life including her father and Reyes Farrow, "son of Satan" whom she felt would never let her down. Later on she finds out from Reyes he has set her up to catch the man who had abused him as a child leaving Charley alone to be slowly tortured to death by this vile man.
One of my favorite scenes was when Charly was accepted by the motorcycle gang, another was when she found out her "guardian angel" turns out to be the deceased dog owned by the motorcycle gang leader. It was pretty cute.
The book made me laugh, made me sad, made me mad and made me happy!
The first book in the series was developing the characters and history, the 2nd book in the series began the story, and the most recent "Third Grave Dead Ahead" was terrific, very entertaining. I'm anxious for audible.com to have the 4th book in the series "Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet" asap! This is the best series I've read in a long time and narrator Lorelei King is superb!
genuine book worm
I have listened to all three of the grave series titles by Darynda Jones.
This is a very well written paranormal/urban fantasy series. The cast of
characters are well developed and entertaining with mystery/action/adventure.
Ghosts galore, since the main character is the grim reaper.
There is also a touch of humor and romance. I will definitely be
listening to Lorelei Kings narration of this series when #4 comes out in oct.
Charly is getting better at both of her jobs and it shows in this book. As the over all story line grows, the sub-plots will keep you listening on pins and needles all the way through. I was really surprised by who charly's guardian angel turns out to be. But by the end you know the over all battle is yet to come. But with all the twists and turns the out come of that battle is still in doubt. I will be eagerly waiting the next in this series. Hope you enjoy this series as much as I do. I find it fun to listen to!
Sassy, Dangerous, Addictive!
I could listen to this series repeatedly! The narrator is one of my favorites, the characters are fantastical, flawed, and interesting. I can't wait to see where the story goes next!
All the books I have listened to have been great, This series is in the top 3.
Yes, I couldn't stop listening, I can't wait for the 4th book.
This whole series is definitely one of my favorites and this book is the best so far. Just to put that in perspective, I read/listen to over 200 books per year with at least half of those are audio.
It was definitely the shock, but I can't say more without giving it away.
She truly brings the characters to life, but she's never let me down as a narrator.
There's so much humor in all the books of the series and this one added a serious note to the series. I cried after the big twist of this story. I can't wait to see the direction the story takes in the next book.
Darynda Jones is a fantastic author and this series is one of the best I've read. If you like humor along with your woo-woo stuff then you can't go wrong with any of these books. I definitely recommend this series to anyone and everyone.
This was the best one in the series yet. It was action packed and I wasn't sure what was going to happen next. I actually listened to it in one sitting and went to bed extremely late simply because I had to know what was coming. It definately set up what is coming next at the end and that really makes me want the next book now. The narrator has definately grown on me and did a good job.
That's NOT to say that the first two were chopped liver! I ADORE THIS SERIES! Can I say that loud enough with enough !!! ?
It's just that the plot and the characters are being developed so beautifully and I am totally enthralled with Lorelei King's narration. She brings Charley to life and her talent at interpretation is boundless.
This is truly a wonderful series and I await more with great anticipation.
