I love mystery and thriller genre books. I am a complete Audible addict!
I did not enjoy this book, the only positive thing I can say is that the narrator did well. I had high hopes for this story, but it was a let down. I was very disappointed because the plot has some promise, but it was very poorly executed.
I am clearly not the target audience for this book. It's a cliche of action/adventure. Lots of guns, hot chicks and hard men. Seriously. I don't understand the appeal.
If you enjoy endless descriptions of weaponry and gunfights go for it. I could barely finish it.
I really don't know. It is probably a good book for someone who needs a pallet cleanser...
I don't know, I haven't found anything new yet. hoping Orson Scott Cards new mithermages book...
Actually the narrator was the best part. he did a excellent job bringing a half star book to a two star.
um, probably replace the villain with someone scary, the heroine with someone worth saving, and the hero with someone heroic. the rest of the cast where decent.
I just could barely stand the repetitiveness of the dialogue. When the thought sentences of main characters use the same subject for three sentences in a row, just saying it differently... example; "...how could I have been so wrong? it was clear to me now that I never understood his goals. I couldn't have been more wrong." that is a direct quote of three sentences... IN A ROW! -sigh- the book actually made me tired.
It's a tie between the non-stop action and R C Bray narration. I have a "wandering" mind and I frequently find myself pressing the rewind button on my mp3 but with Brainrush, I did not press the rewind button one time! Finished the book in a day and 1/2. Will definitely pick up book 2 in the series!
The bonds between the characters. I have read so many books where it's "every man for themselves" and "better you than me" which isn't that bad by the way, it just gets old after a while. The characters in Brainrush were willing to die for one another and that made the book that much more enjoyable.
No I have not but his narration was spot-on excellent. It was truly one of the best narrative jobs I've ever heard. Great job R.C. Bray!!!
Yes, I had an extreme reaction to get Brainrush 2 A.S.A.P.
No, this is first review and I'm tired.
I love to read espionage and criminal thrillers. My lifestyle doesn't allow time to sit and read so audio books is really an enjoyment.
It is amount my favorite!
The Sci-Fi thinking of the author
He was very "into" the book.
I look forward to listening to Brainrush II
This book has the feeling of a mash up of several different genres.
It has the action fight against terrorism aspect, it has a flair of comic
book super hero, and it includes the alien sci-fi angle. This book feels
as if it is trying to find the cross section of people that are into the action
books like the Jack Ryan series, or James Bond. But who are also into
comics, and space aliens. If you like these kinds of books on there
own then this might be an interesting read for you. It was different enough
to keep me interested. I thought the narrator did a good job at bringing the
characters to life, and was easy to listen to. This book may not make my
all time best list but it was worth a listen.
Story line was good but overtaken by sexual content.
Yes of age!
Yes a rewrite for screen play
People who like Impossible situations and constant tension building would like this. Not sure I can stand to get through another drama queen attempt. The narration was decent and the reason I enjoyed the book to some degree.
First halve of the book was great. Interesting listen, but then the author changed gears and seem to think that building tension means that you write one imposible situation on top of another and then miraculously the situation gets resolved. If I was reading, I would have skipped whole pages.Spoiler alert:I did not think the alien artifact/possible invasion should have been in here.
I wish the author did not try to "step it up" in the second part of the book and thereby turning it into a soap opera. This story really has/had potential.
