The story was a sweet ending to the trilogy. It had enough suspense, intrigue and drama to keep me interested. I also liked the that the focus wasn't so much on the hero/heroine torturing themselves with deprival for the greater good. Yes, there was some but not overkill that was more present in the earlier installments of this trilogy.
Another plus about Foley's writing is that the male leads actually fall in love long before the story is over, which is not something we always see in these books. Usually they hold out till the bitter end or they are faced with death! lol!
The intrigue kept me up at night listening. My only criticism of this one is that the narrator of the first two books in this trilogy did such awesome Italian accents, that this book was a let down in the performance. The narrator is good in her own right, but would have preferred the other one since she added a delightful accent that enriched the characters. Still worth some stars and your credit though!
I can't exactly put a finger on what was wrong, but I really disliked this in audiobook. I love Gaelen Foley's other novels and even this one wasn't horrible on paper but I had to listen to it on double speed to get through.
It wasn't exactly the characters specifically as I liked both the prince and the heroine. It might have been more the heroine's wishy washy attitude on sleeping with the prince who she admits she loves. I couldn't buy the scared line after the first night since this was a women who dressed up as a highwayman (woman?) and robbed people. The prince on the other hand was a bit to willing to take it.
My final word on this one : It's not so horrible to never read, but definitely get it on discount.
About an hour in, I almost gave up on this book because the prince was such a toad. I'm glad I didn't though - I enjoyed it in the end.
Actually, it is Jennifer, not Michael. I enjoy a variety of books but am drawn to romantic historical fiction with a Christian message.
I thoroughly enjoyed this romance! I believe it is the third book in a trilogy, however I did not listen to the first two books and never felt that I had missed anything. Gaelen Foley has certainly mastered the art of capturing the true essence of a woman's passion. If you are looking for something hot and steamy, this is it. It also has an underlying mystery and plot of deceit within the Royal family that will keep you entertained. Great book. Jennifer
Have listened to one other book by this author and really enjoyed it. This story line was enjoyable, kept my interest. But I did get frustrated with the lead characters and their willingness to believe the worst about each other. Yes I realize this is a fairy tale, but Rafe was supposed to be 30 years old, yet sometimes had the maturity of a 20 year old. And Daniella was supposed to be strong and independent, yet those traits fluctuated a lot. That said, overall it was worth the credit. I had not listened to the previous two books in this trilogy and this was fine as a stand-alone book. This is also my first book with this narrator. She did a very good job. I would say this is above average for this genre.
I do not normally re-listen to books as there are just too many on my wait list! However, I truly enjoyed this book! It was fun, mysterious, thrilling and romantic all at the same time.
I really enjoyed the growth of the relationship between Rafe and Dani. It was nice seeing Rafe grow and learn how to love. At first I wasn't sure if I liked him as a character, but her grew on me.
I loved the cadence of her voice, but I hated her pronunciation of Rafe.
No extreme reactions, but I was moved several times.
I would rank it among my listening favorites so far and will definitely listen to it again!
At this point it kind of sits alone as it is not my usual taste. It sounded fun and entertaining so I went for it! Glad I did.
Loved her accent and she distinguished the characters well!
It was a feel good book.
I recommend you give it a try if you like a good romance in historical setting with a little action thrown in!
I love Audible! Being a full time wife, mother, and career leaves no time to actually read. Audio books give me my fix anytime and anywhere.
This is adult Disney with out talking animals, and I adored it!
I am very eclectic in my likes. There are stories that speak to myself as a grown woman, then there are those that call to my inner little girl that still dreams of fairy-tales coming true, and neither is stronger than the other. "Prince Charming" managed to speak to both sides of my heart in equal parts. **Sigh** The whole thing was just fabulous really, my only complaint is that the 1st and 2nd novel in this series isn't available :(
I beg Audible to give me the complete collection of this fairy tale magic with the delicious adult twists because I need more! Please give me more!
Yes, the heroine I've very strong and the narration is well done.
Yes I really got caught up in this story quite quickly, it's really easy to get into the story as the characters are so strong, interesting and distinct.
This story is about the prince who wants to prove himself as a future leader for his island and he soon get his chance but of course this come with conditions. He must marry soon. Enter our heroine, who lives a little on the dangerous side of life and her luck soon runs out. I loved the love story and how the characters grow together. This book is definitely worth listening to and the story develops quickly with enough angst without being too much.
It was well read and acted, and the story was compelling and kept moving.
