It was a very good short story, wasn't scary or creepy. Now the Dune (second story in) was creepy and eerie. The judge was just as creepy as the story.
The Judge, he was creepy and I could imagine a senile old judge of the South who is both terrified and mesmerized by what is occurring out on that little island. That little wasteland off of the shore. In the end you wonder, what exactly is the judge.
The intellect and courage of Rachel and Blakie, they were too smart for their ages. To moving and confident in their abilities to withstand all that was happening to them.
Ever since Lisey's Story I've been drawn to Stephen King. This book is really a two-part short story list. The first,
This was classic Stephen King. Detailed so that you are immersed in the story but to the point. The end of The Dune was great!
Just rty to make it a little longer but it was good.
The funky car.
crazy, stupid and nobelieving.
This was a fun listen. The mile 81 story was pretty good, but of the two, I really preferred The Island, both for the story and the narration. Worth a listen if you have just a couple hours to kill.
short, King, good
Typical King writing
Where the older boy helps the younger two
Car (alien) ate the people who got too close
I really enjoyed Mile 81. Great narration, and I didn't have to put forth any effort to be carried along with the story.
Like many of King's stories, this one will also connect to your youth. I found it easy to relate to the characters and smiled often remembering doing many of those same things.
Great job! I listen to audio books most everyday while I work. Aside from a great form of self hypnosis, a great audio book will draw you in and transport you.
The story line was high school level. Although written in wonderful Stephen King style, it lacks any depth and the plot really was a poor take-off of Christine. Besides being a very short story it was unfulfilling.
Debating that now.
Not really. I still do enjoy how Stephen Kings describes his characters.
Yes, in a heart beat. Interesting story line that kept you wanting to go further into the characters and to see what would happen to them.
Never a dull moment
Yes and they are the frosting on the cake. Combine a good story with these two reading it and you have the best cake ever!
Wouldn't change it.
A good read and would recommend it highly
This story creeped me out when I was listening alone at night in bed. Better than any horror story I could imagine.
I don't want to give it away but you will not be disappointed
Yes . . and I did
Loved it, classic short story, absolutely perfect!
