I am easily amused!
Jane Yellowrock is a wonderful character. She's a shapeshifting Cherokee woman in the modern world. This book is action packed, fast paced, filled with beautiful imagery and pearls of wisdom. The story is exciting and one can't help but love Jane. Khristine Hvam's narration is fantastic. I have listened to every book in the series because the story is so much richer on audio.
If you love The Hollows series by Kim Harrison you will adore this series as well!
Another great Jane Yellowrock story. I have never been disappointed by Faith Hunter and this edition is just the same. Jane continues to get herself into great bouts of trouble, the story however is getting much more complicated as the relationship between Jane and the vampires develops. Now the witches are even more involved with demons and angels as well. Jane's elusive relationship with Ricky remains so but it seems more likely than ever that they will end up together, or will they? Bruiser is letting his intentions be known too, so who will Jane choose? In this story, Jane and Beasts relationship becomes strained to almost the breaking point.
Read it.....you will not be disappointed.
this was my fourth book and I enjoyed it as much as the third nothing can beat the first 2 books. I plan on listening to the whole series.
I'm getting tired of the guilt fest the MC seems 2 njoy rolling around in. the narrator is very good, gives ea character their own voice. plots are always interesting, jus...lighten up on s#! $@t out of her control! u'll give us the readers a mental disorder trying to keep up with all she takes blame/responsibility for, rite or rong. (yes that was on purpose! )
I have no idea how this woman stays employed. Jane is a mess of complexes and contradictions. She makes the same terrible decisions over and over. Emotionally, she is a teen. The pretense of her 'running security' for this or anything else is laughable. This book runs from one (often unexplained) fight scene to the next. New characters are introduced haphazardly, and rarely followed up on. Formerly solid relationships are ignored, new relationships appear seemingly out of the ether, and get most of the attention, before they too just disappear. Points are made over, and over, and over. Oh, Angie Baby is 'scary powerful?' YOU DON'T SAY. What even happened with Beast in the end?? I could go on. It almost seems unedited.
Also can someone please tell me how this fighting biker managed to put ALL of her fighting leathers in long term storage?
Hunter is a skillful wordsmith whose witty and creative storytelling is thorougly enjoyable. Khristine Hvam is to be saluted for excellent narrating. Jane Yellowrock our kickass heroine is also a really good churchgoing girl and her life is hugely complicated... oh and Beast...
Recommended for all urban fantasy lovers who do not care for swearing or blasphemy, but still appreciate well- written, unpredictable, imaginative work. Hunter exhibits a great stock of knowledge which is unobstrusively and often with humour, interwoven creatively into the development of the characters and plot.
Rated 4 1/2 because it is an excellent (audible) experience
Normally I like the Jane Yellowrock series, but the moaning about how this was her fault and that was her fault really irked me. A meteor could have struck someone and she would have blamed herself for not seeing it fall from the sky. That's how ridiculous she was with her guilt.
Loved the story line, the danger and mystery that is Jane Yellowrock continues.
Great narration, her voice so matches the artist rendition of Jane so I see her clearly in my mind as I'm listening. Love the way she voices the other characters as well.
As the story progresses and with each job she takes, Jane more of her past and possibly her future is revealed. There are numerous hints about her and how she might be more than just a Skin Walker. Conflicting with her birthright is her Christian upbringing effecting how she does her job. But always in her mind is the love she has for Molly and her children, especially Angelina who is showing far more gifts from her own birthright that can be dangerous not only for her but for everyone around her that might want to use her and her Witch family. the storyline just keeps getting better and better...loved it.
