Absoluteness, and I already have. It was damned hilarious & fun. Pardon the pun.
This one scene is the height of hilarity, when Colin decides he can help drive, and while our Heroine is sleeping, Colin becomes hopelessly lost!!
Impossible to choose. Amanda is sooo gifted!!
It was supposed to be a simple job....or so Miranda thought. How much trouble could one stuffy vampire be??
Excellent. Please put more of Molly's books on sale. Tomorrow.
Oh I plan on it!
I love the main characters struggles with her own awkwardness.
Heard, to pick just one this book moves at quite a clip.
Pick on, I laughed out loud several times.
This is a fun lighthearted adventurous tail.
I'd heard alot about Molly Harpers books and they always have good reviews but I just could not get into the story, I honestly tried reading up to about chapter six but it just wasn't for me, the reader however, was wonderful, the problem wasn't her it was the story.
Been a bit more detailed and a little less sarcastic.
yes she's a great reader.
I didn't finish the book so I don't think I really have a good clear cut picture of each person in the story, but from what I did read, I'd have to say most likely, her ex.
Just because this title wasn't for me doesn't mean I wouldn't tell someone else to give it a try. If you enjoy vampires mixed with normal every day people in a story then you may just like it. The book just honestly didn't captavate me.
In this book, we meet characters already near and dear to our hearts from the "Nice Girls" series. A few familiar encounters catch you off guard which is a good ear to ear grin since you feel like you're in on a secret. This story is another work of narrative art by Ronconi, like an old (beautiful) shoe that fits so comfortably while you listen.
I just loved waiting for the inevitable to happen to our heroine. Collin starts out as such a self-centered dork that one wonders how it will possbile for him to change meaningfully in such a short book. He is quite arrogant and not very likeable that it gets on the listener's nerves. So, Harper does a pretty good job leading us through his growth, if somewhat implausible.
The Bat Mobile pink-boobed and all going over the ravine is hilarious and such a good tease to make us wonder, "what next for our two wayward travelers?" I would be remiss if I didn't mention the root cellar, especially the tears - quite moving.
Absolutely since it is a quick, funny listen.
More, more, more.....
You might like this book/series. I expected to be rapidly engaged with this story after reading several positive reviews of this book. I have read nearly all of the Charlaine Harris "Sookie Stackhouse" novels and enjoyed them very much. However, by Chapter 4 in Driving Mr. Dead, one of the main characters was revealed to have been a British soldier in the Revolutionary War, it just smacked too much of a main character in the "Sookie" series, and that was enough for me. Besides that similarity, the plot line so far has failed to entertain me even at the most superficial level, so I will not even waste my time finishing the book.
Skinny Dip by Carl Hiassen. I need some laughs.
I thought her narration was very good and her characterization of the players distinctive.
Maybe I would have enjoyed the series beginning with the first of it, AND if I had never read the Charlaine Harris books as they seem so much more entertaining than this one was.
I am an Australian woman who enjoys reading many different styles of books, from history to sci fi and mystery to poetry.
What a silly book. I was looking forward to the halarity mentioned in other reviews. I hardly raised a smile. The entire thing was a joke really, but it was on me, that I spent money on this drivel. The plot was predictable with stolid writing and the ending just made me cringe! This is modern day Mills and Boone. Dreadful.
Yes. It's a fun light book. Brightened my mood.
Made me laugh. Main character was strong and sassy.
I got this on the $4.95 sale thinking what do I have to lose! Molly Harper is FUNNY! Totally Chick humor! I will have to check out some of her other books because I couldn't stop laughing!
Firstly, I'd listen to this narrator again. The only reason I gave her performance 4/5 stars was because her male impression was almost creepy and it took a moment to adjust to the 'voice' of the male lead. HOWEVER, I'm glad I did listen to this in lieu of reading it because her voice is perfect for the female lead and adds the right depth of quirky goodness.
The female lead... oh Mrs Puckett, you've got a style all your own.
Same as above.. PERFECT voice for the Miranda Puckett.
There were several outright laughs and a few I had to stifle as not to wake anyone.
Narrated well - would listen to Amanda Ronconi again.
Skeptical about reading another book by Molly Harper.
Shallow character development; eye-rolling ridiculous scenes.
Amanda's performance was entertaining; good character differentiation.
This was about the most disappointing book I've listened to in several years. Perhaps it's the inevitable comparison with the Twilight books, and this, to me, was quite inferior. The character development was very shallow. The story, overall, was simple and superficial; very lacking in depth. It was entertaining enough that I finished, but only just. The narration was very pleasant, and that helped.
