excellent storytelling as usual breakdown of the series love the book a must read this is easy 5 starts looking forward to the next book can't wait
The voice actor has change many of the mannerisms, pronunciations, and voices used in previous "song of ice and fire" audio books. While it didn't completely ruin the experience it certainly is jarring to hear Little finger go from being suave and slower of speech to sounding like everyone else.
I love this version and Roy Dotrice does an excellent job reading. My only complaint, and it may seem trivial, is that there are a couple of characters who change accent from previous books or previous chapters. It's not a big thing and I understand how with so many characters it could happen. However, it was a little jarring to the continuity. Overall though, highly recommend.
I really like the narrator, but... He often changes the names of main characters even in twice in a sentence. He calls Joffrey , Jeffry sometimes.. Sometimes he says it right. He has called Brianne of Tarth about 3 different names. He calls Katlin Stark Kaitlin sometime..
Other than that I very much enjoyed listening.
George R. Martin is the best Adult fantasy wtiter of our time. I have enjoyed every thrilling moment, and cannot wait for more. I started with the HBO series, but when I had heard they were deviation from the initial story of the author, I decided to pick up the books. I haven't been disappointed with my decision yet! Now on to the next one :)
The story itself is top notch as is the recording quality...but I find it inexcusable that Mr. Dotrice and the project manager utterly FAILED to review the previous books in order to keep the voices and names consistent. Very disappointed.
