All the characters accents have changed from the last book. Gave up after 3 chapters where Sam has changed from West Country to Yorkshire (changing again to West Country for one passage in the same chapter!!). Dulleres Ed changed from a distinctive midlands drawl to West Country, and Aria Stark has suddenly become Irish! Ruined it for me
The narration is sloppier than the first three books, with inconsistencies in pronunciation and other small errors; far from intolerable, though. The story is slower paced but ends strong and seems to have set up the next book with some interesting plot lines.
The voices of the characters sounds different than in the previous books, and that kind of pulls you out of the experience. That is the only complaint
I've read the books and decided to listen to them for my commute as well because its been years since I've read them. I loved the first three on audio but started to notice that the accents/voices of the characters (Little Finger, Melisandre, Dany) changed and it is the same narrator. My only complaint! Maybe he changes them for a reason? I do love the narrator, I think he does an amazing job and keeps my attention!
How does the same guy pronounce the names of people and houses differently in the fourth book? Was barely tolerating him by the end of the third now he's stupid all over again. Poor choice for narrator.
