Tension between the Law and the heart
The plot is what kept me listening. I think the story could use more "peaks" in the revelation flow of the plot. It did also surprise me a few times, but as I will say below, the narrator was difficult for me to listen to.
This may be an unfortunate association, but one of my ex-employers used to talk just like this narrator. Although the over enunciation may be amusing at first, I soon grew very weary of it. His voice and speaking style reminding me of this other person the whole time did not help, but it feels so "forced", that it sucked a lot of the energy out of the story. I found myself distracted by the narrator and so the actual story wasn't given the chance it deserved. Interesting, some reviewers liked the narrator. Be sure you listen to him a few times before you decide to invest in the whole reading.
It's a good story and plot. Worth a listen. Just be advised that the narrator may get to you after awhile.
The book takes too long to get to the heart of the story - he is not a great writer - he using 'telling' far too much rather than 'showing' through interesting dialogue. Simply not worth the time.
I couldnt get past the first ten minutes. The narrator is so stuffed up. I couldn't stand to listen a minute longer.
I have listened to over one hundred books and never had a complaint. But this was bad.
Maybe. I like legal thrillers. This was a dull book though.
Very slow and tedious.
Honestly, the narrator is so bad that it's just annoying to listen to this book.
Never before -- and never again.
The story is enticing and, like others have said, it's a page-turner. However, many of the "turns" are far too predictable. I never like it when I figure out plot twists before they happen, and in this case I saw several of them coming -- and I am not very smart. On the other hand, the narration is good and captures the persona of the main character pretty well.
To me this book was a character study of someone who is having an affair...and they just happen to be a lawyer.
I missed the suspense that other reviewers have commented on. The story seemed straight forward and the twists while not anticipated were not shocking. The story really did not focus on the courtroom/law aspects but focused much more on the affair of the lead character.
The book was read very well.
I get so excited sometimes about writing a review..good or bad...that why sometimes I misspell words..lol..
Twist and turns but I was disappointed in the end.. the author could've really made this book four stars with a better ending. thoughout the entire book the author had you thinking that something HUGE was going to happen but it never did...but I liked the narrator..his kid voice was kind of funny..lol
Not a chance.
It would have helped -- but the story line is so bad, that nothing would help.
Probably shorten it by at least 25%
Can't think of any
