This book was just as good as the first, which I loved! Dianne Duvall has a way with writing. She keeps the story going which is a must.
In pursuit of truth, justice, and an end to spoilers!
After loving the first book, I held off reading the second until I was in just the right mood. These books are pure paranormal-romance-and-action candy!
The backdrop of the series reminds me a bit of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s dark hunters taken in a new direction (in two *very* new directions by the end of this second installment!). Good guy immortal vampires battle together against bad guy vamps, assisted by a network of human helpers. A host of characters makes up the continuing storyline, and each book also highlights one couple’s story. This time it’s Ami and Marcus who take center stage.
I was intrigued by Ami at the end of the last book, and initially surprised to see her character coming up to bat so quickly, but now I’m catching on. I don’t want to say too much and risk giving anything away! I will say that I was hoping for a touch more sizzle between her and Marcus, which is why I knocked one star off the story rating. Oh it’s there, but even more of a good thing is always an improvement, right? Scanning the other reviews it seems like only a few of us felt that way though, so you can probably just count me as an Ami fan girl with high expectations.
From the looks of things, all the main characters will continue to appear in future books as their shared storyline unfolds, which is an excellent thing if you’ve got a favorite. Or two. This is one series I’ll happily follow to the end!
Overall, great series with lots of interesting details, fun romances and great narrator. I'm a happy listener!
I am a Trubie from Philly!! As you can see Eric is my fav, swoon!!! I love all Philly Teams, and sports!! And my favorite past time is reading.
I did not read the print version, but for me the audio version is better due to my schedule. I work 3 jobs and go to school, so alot of my time is spent working on a computer or in the car. It's easier for me to plug-in the headphones and go.
I could not compare this book to any other. The series stands alone. I don't like to compare authors or series, but I'll say I love the characters just like the Black Dagger Brotherhood and the Lords of the Underworld.
Kirsten is great!! I love how she changes her voice to suit each character. Some performers just read withgout any varation in their voice (annoying much!!!), but Kirsten really makes it easy to identify the characters. And I love the way she does Seth (he's my FAV)!!!
I laughed alot!!! And I cringed a couple times because of Seth's Rage and his compassion could be overwhelming!! Again, I really like the character of Seth.
I have read many books over the past few years, and would put this series up there with the Black Dagger Brotherhood and the Lords of the Underworld!!
It's a great new paranormal series.....
It's a great book beginning to end, I had a hard time putting it down
As always, Kirsten Potter delivers a great performance
Yes... I had a hard time putting it down
I like the narrator I didnt read it
when everyone was gathered and he proposed to Amy
Like her different accents so I knew who was speaking.
I like the rescue of Amy
Yes, I wish I could find more stories like this one!
The night huntress... I thought I was not going to be able to find a book as entertaining as the night huntress.
She was very pleasant to listen to. She gave life to the characters and I didn't get tired of her voice!!
Nurse working at being a nurse practitioner. The only way I have time to read for pleasure is audio books while I drive to work. I have always liked audio books.
Writing and performance were just OK. The action dragged. the narrator did not alter her voice enough for different characters so you were sometimes not sure who was speaking.
The ending was fine. The end leaves you needing the next book, like most series. It does not leave you frustrated like some books.
The story solves some mysteries from the first book and develops two more characters. I would have liked a little more interactions with Roman, Sara, And Sebastian. It seems the books focus on two characters with a little of other characters. I enjoy other books that have two main characters with three or four subordinates that are frequently interacting with the two main characters. I just enjoyed this book. Kirsten Potter did a great job.
Clean my kitchen.
I listened to it again.
One of my top favorites! I have listened to it twice so far and have laughted my a** off each time.
I like the depiction of the fight sequences. The narator makes you feel like you are there whitnessing it.
