The book isn't a dry regurgitation of historical facts. The facts are there. But the story is brought to life due to the real like like reading of the book. You feel as if you are there.
What I liked most was how Washington was really just any man. Yet he wasn't He made choices that lead him to where he was. He could have told his mother he was going to leave with his brother. But he did what he knew was right. He obeyed his mother.
He could have said no to Adams and others and not taken the charge of the Continental army, but he did so. And he did so humbly.
The death bed scene with Washington. You really get to understand just how old and weak he had become. The strong, tall man was now reduced. But he died the same humble man he had always been...
Yes, I hated having to leave it. The more I heard the more I wanted to know what would happen next. Even though I knew much of the history already.
Im not going to get too in depth on this one but I will say that I learned so much and was truely inspired by a great man such as Washington. This book should be required reading for EVERY student and adult in America!
I don't know why but many times I felt lost, the story didn't flow in a way that made sense to me.
Riveting......Inspiring.......Proud Makes you feel like you were with Washington witnessing the birth of our country.
While I am not a real Beck fan myself I truly loved this books and will listen to it many times I am sure in the years to come. I will also be gifting this book. I enjoyed listening and learning about the man who was one of our nations greatest at a tome when we are clearly a leaderless country. Too bad we cannot make this required for all members of Congress and the Whitehouse. Maybe they would learn something about how they are destroying our nation.
Better? Maybe not. It was different and awesome.
I was in awe from start to finish.
I loved George Washington before, still do but also I marvel at his genius, his loyalty and his class. He really is the indispensable man.
As a student of history, it provided details about the events surrounding General/President Washington the I was not aware. But what makes Being George Washington unique, is Author Beck's take on Washington's character in dealing with circumstances.
The several accounts throughout the work of Providence sparing Washington to fulfill his life's purpose.
His voice ... it is both pleasing and engaging.
Along with other works on Washington, it further reinforced George Washington as the greatest President, and Father of the Country by his precedences on defining the Presidency. Lesser men would have been tempted to let vanity overtake service to others. For example, had he been so inclined, he could have taken advantage of his popularity to pursue kingdom instead of presidency.
Highly recommend Being George Washington especially to patriots who love and serve Our Country. It reinforces some of the reasons they do what they do.
Yes, would recommend, because there might be a piece of history you might have forgotten and this might jog your memory.
Understanding more fully the role Napolean Bonapart played and his relationship with George Washington was very interesting. Also, getting a deeper understanding of how George Washington was respected and admired.
I'm not sure I liked his character voice for George. Also, some of his accents were not so good, like the french accent.
Yes, understanding how much George Washington sacrificed for his love of country and how much he was away from home.
It is pretty amazing to realize just how long and arduous this war was against the British and how many men sacrificed their lives for a better way of life. At least they knew who the enemy was back then. Today, sadly, our enemies are like ghosts.
“Being George Washington” is a story that is mostly focused on the Revolutionary War and the founding of the United States and our Constitution but is also a narrative of the life and inner soul of one of the greatest men to have ever lived on earth. No one can help not to revere him for what he did for this great nation, the United States, and the example he is for every leader of all nations. Glenn Beck illustrates how George Washington’s way of life can be an example of how people, regardless of their circumstances or state of being can better themselves, and live a more fruitful life.
Ron McLarty narrated the Audio Book in a way that brings all the characters to life in a way that holds one’s interest in anticipation of how the next part of the story will unfold.
Definitely George Washington
The truth about a Great Leader
Great read about a man that everyone should know about
