MoleMen, Inc. now a TERMINIX Company
I bought this based on someone's review as the "BEST BOOK EVER" . What? This was almost boring and complicated to the point of just shutting it off and reading a book. I couldn't even stay along with the story because it changed so much and added so many characters I couldn't even tell you who they are now. I am sorry, but I cannot recommend a book that I can't even remember after listening to it. I would pass.
Wouldn't be in this series.
Simplify the plot and characters to the point where an average person can keep track of them.
Yes - read a book.
Maybe it was all of the russian names, the narration in an american accent with a russian cast of characters, or the unrealistic plot. This is just an average audiobook. Not terrible and I have been through a bunch of those. But would I recommend this book, only if you are a Martin Cruz Smith fan. Frank Muller is a great narrator but somehow he missed it on this one. His narration seemed a little slow and at no time did I feel I was on a russian ship. A risky use of a credit.
Amazing Reader! Amazing Story 5 STARS - I had heard this was suberb and I concur! I could listen to it all over again :)
His voices is incredible! Brings the story to life!
Really disliked the reader. Ruined the book for me. He over dramatized the writing. If the book had been read by a good reader, I would have finished it.
I read the reviews and thought maybe I have found a new fav author but I'm more than 2 hours in and I am so deadly bored I can't stand it. I don't care about any of these people and I sure as heck don't care about Russia. Dismal, bleak, and boring as hell.
I guess, maybe, who the hell knows.
The story is dated (Soviet Union) but still intriguing, mostly I think because of the confined and isolated setting - on a fishing factory ship in the Bearing Sea
There were unexpected turns, but not edge-of-your-seat action
The narration was the weakest point, in my opinion, as the accents the reader took on as various characters slipped a little. Still good narration, but not great.
No, I can't imagine any book I'd want to spend 10-12 hours in one sitting listening to.
