Sporadic, Insightful, Entertaining.
The wide range of topics the book covers from politics to the economy to religion to even pop culture. If you care about it Bill probably covers it in this book at one point or another.
The way the sarcasm comes off in his voice really adds to how entertaining the book is and helps you picture what he is saying in your head alot easier. If you were just reading it I fear his witty sarcasm would fly over the heads of most people.
I laughed from time to time but mostly chuckled. If you watch his TV show you have heard some of this stuff already but its nice to hear them again especially the older ones. If you don't watch the TV show or are new to it and enjoy it you are in for a treat with this book and Its highly recommended.
The way the book is setup isn't the best. All the
I am a writer from Toronto. I am 34 and hooked on audio books.
This is a rehashing of the old book, you will find that most of this book is drawn from the old and thus quite repetitive. This is horrible as I am a huge Bill Maher fan.
Addicted to Audible since 2009
Maher is great and brings up some great points. Just wish people took comedians seriously sometimes. Anyone who listens would have to agree with most of his philosophies otherwise, they are probably just being ignorant and close minded. Very funny and educational at the same time. Him saying New Rule a thousand times might be annoying to some but what's more annoying are the people Maher makes fun of!
52 year old electrical engineer with a thirst for knowledge but who is nevertheless easily distracted by a great vicarious escape.
As a segment in a show, if you say "new rule" a dozen times, it's not so grating. But for a book in which you start every new joke with "new rule", after a while you want that rule to be "no more saying - new rule". Annoying the point of distraction IMO.
Furthermore, I simply didn't laugh much at this book!
If anyone else besides Bill Maher himself had read it, it wouldn't have worked. His voice is his humor and point of view.
He makes really great points about the absurdity of our political system, of religion, and how the two are unfortunately linked.
His tone of voice, of course, makes the jokes even more comedic, than just reading the text.
Some things he revealed about some behind-the-scenes things in our government that all of the public should be informed of
I agree with almost everything he says. I wish everybody in America would listen to this book. Then maybe we could progress a little bit.
Give this book a go as it is quite fun and insightful. Even if you are not a Bill Maher fan I would encourage you to listen and enjoy Bill's we timed conversational style.
Previous book much better. Many of his arguments are simplistic and repetitious. Has little to say that he already hasn't said, much more cleverly.
