I have always enjoyed the audio for these. books but this one is horrible. I'll have to download the book and read it myself. This guy's voice is like he's giving a tour of an old church or something. Zero emotion. Booooring!
The narrator. B Darcie did an excellent job.
I actually read this book a few years ago and enjoyed it. It's different from the other Konrath/Kilborn books I've previously read but I still enjoyed the story a lot. I will listen to this again...eventually.
This book dealt with several characters and he was able to execute different tones for each one.
I laughed a lot. Loved the Abe Lincoln character. Too bad he didn't have a bigger part in the book.
Story about unknowing clones of long dead famous people being mysteriously picked off one by one, was a little bit contrived and predictable. So at times the book dragged along ..._ and overall a fair listen. The tone kept shifting from action thriller to light hearted satire which also affected the pace. Narration was solid and pleasant.
Maybe an uneducated teenager or younger.
Giant leaps of the unbelievable. I know its fantasy, sci-fi but even for that there could have been some uniformity, or flow. It asked the reader to not only suspend belief but to forget anything you've ever read or for that matter what you JUST read. UGH! It dropped plots twists like they were hand full of poker chips thrown willy-nilly. The characters were as this as onion paper.
I won't fault him for the bad story, the characters were ridiculous so them having different voices really did nothing for the story.
Anger, then disappointment. I wasted my money and my time on this drivel.
I have no idea how this got the good ratings it did, I think people must have "judged this book by it's cover" and nothing else.
I picked this book up because I heard that the author was good in the suspense and horror genres. It turns out to be a real winner!
No, I would not recommend the book. I liked it at first because the dialog was fast and witty. But as the story began to open up, it became more and more juvenile. Eventually, the story became laughably bad.
Mr. Darcie did a great job with the characters' dialog. I will look for more books that feature his narration.
No. I really had to fight through the last few hours.
I would give this story an "ok" but it really wasn't up to Jack Daniels standards. The whole plot was really far fetched and just not that interesting to me. Abe saved the story though through comic relief. He and Roy made the book worth listening to.
Avid reader! Want fast paced, energetic thrillers. King/Koontz are favorites but finding more authors that are starting to rise to the top
Good mystery! It kept my interest because I wanted to know and was determined to find out what the lists had in common. Tempo was good although sometimes sketchy.- he went into detail on some things (clothes etc) that I didn't feel added to the story but it wasn't boring. Characters were cloned from great men (and women) from history but don't really seem amazed at that. You mean no one has ever told you you look just exactly like Jack the Ripper or Joan of Arc before? This realization doesn't seem to shock any of them. Action is good and dialog is good and believable . Narator is vey engaging keeping charaters true througout the book.
This is a good read. I would definetely recommend.
The narrator does a pretty good job with the different characters and the story is interesting. It isn't nearly enough sci-fi for me though. This is primarily a murder-mystery/ crime drama. And it was too bloody and filled with fear for me to listen to. I got through almost all if it until I realized that the fear of the characters was permeating my own psyche. And picturing the bloody scenes was too much for my sensitive right-brain. I don't normally read or watch tv shows like this. If you like this kind of thing, then by all means enjoy the book! It's just not for me personally.
