Forget what you know about the shifters of before.... the author has a great story and the twists at the end are brilliant. Even if you think you know how it is going to end you can't predict how they get there. LOVED IT.
When the collar came off and he jumped.
No favorite but the narrator could have been more masculine with the male lead
Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm an addict.
While I liked this book there were a few things that just missed the mark on making this a really good book. I would rate this book a 3.5 overall.
The good: The characters were loveable and I wouldn't mind seeing what will become of them. I like the world that was created and I can see lots of potential with the story.
The bad: The whole story was covered in only two days. Now that’s fast even for flies. The whole speed of the story was a wham bam thank you ma'am, even the narrator. There were times I had to suspend disbelief how events progressed concerning the time factor. Although I liked most of the characters Kim drove me a bit nuts with her reasoning, to me she didn't make sense. I also was not surprised at the ending, a bit predictable.
But with all that I still liked it and would be willing to pick up the next book on a sale. While the narrator is a bit fast, she would have done better if she paused for a breath once in a while. I did like her Irish accent though.
In the middle. Not the worst I've listened to. It seems like it could be a great series, but the narrator was pretty bad. Hoping the second book is better
I'm giving it one more shot.
She was good with the Irish accent, but seemed like she was rushing through. Couldn't tell where the sentence stopped and a new one started. Or who was talking sometimes.
the story was good but too slow, make a nice 3 hr but it lagged and I found my self guessing at what might be happening, thinking what should be happening. forced myself to finish and it is going back, a credit is too much for a decent 3 hr story that took much longer to tell. Narrative good and I am seeing others in the series rating 5 so I will try maybe one more but I am not sure of that either.
No, the narrator removes the entire experience of the book. I wish it could be republished with a different narrator. I'll never purchase another book read by Traci Odom. Her Irish accent is decent, the cadence of the speech is choppy and the inflection between the female character or any character really and the regular narrative content is non-existent. You have to concentrate hard to follow the flow of speech to make sure you don't miss what is said versus what is thought, or just narrative speech. There's no emotion. It's as if she's reading an instruction manual instead of an entertaining book.
Reading it myself. I enjoyed it much more instead of listening to it on audio. And that's a shame, I've listened to many audiobooks and this is the first narrator that I've really really disliked to the point of will make sure she's not the narrator of another I purchase.
Brianna Bronte or even Maxine Mitchell, Stella Bloom ANYONE else I think. It would be really nice if this could be re-released with another narrator. It's a disservice to the entire series that this is the quality of the first book of the series.
If it had been read by another narrator, yes.
AMAZING SHIFTER STORY!
I really Loved the Hero Liam, but the other characters like, Glory, Conner, Dillon and Oh! don't forget the bad guys. They all really made the story come Alive. OH! The NARRATOR DID AN AWSOME JOB WITH THE ACCENTS FOR THE CHARACTERS!!!
The fight scene between Liam and Fergus.
NARRATOR DID AND FANTASTIC JOB!!! LOVED THE SHIFTER STORY!
I love the accents and acceptance of Pride family.
Liam was my favorite - strength, humor, honesty and his reaction to kissing!
Liam's irish accent was good for someone not Ireland
Cried because the limitations of humans to put a lock on their necks. Reminded me of slavery from back in the day.
Can't wait for to read the next book.
I was looking for a great shifter / supernatural romance. This one was only mediocre. The story lines throughout the series were okay, but very predictable. And the romance scenes... I was like seriously? I'm more about the story than the sex, so perhaps this series just wasn't a good selection for me.
This book had a terrific idea, and I think I would have enjoyed it; if it didn't have such prejudicial overtones. I mean, I get that it was crucial to the story line, but honestly... the heroine spent most of the book complaining about reasons she couldn't be with the hero that sounded (to me) racist against shifters.
