Book was not at all hat I expected it to be and Included to many of his own religious views. Also having just finished the book Willpower found this to be a complete contradiction to it.
Not so much repetition from other books Craig has written. He repeats so many anecdotes or examples to back up his commentary and you know what he's going to say, word for word, before he says it. This gets very annoying.
Yes, because I like Craig, but I would need to be a bit more discerning about choosing my titles. I have read a lot of his stuff, but the repetition gets too much.
Use new material.
Disappointment. This one just isn't very interesting.
Craig has a good voice to listen to, unlike a lot of other audible narrators or authors doing their own material. Just going over old ground gets very old.
Craig Beck ties together so many concepts that resonated with me in this this book. The ideas were not new to me, but the way he pulls them together in this short book is magnificant. I especially appreciated the way he presented the ego and the soul.
I love his voice and his pace of speaking. I listen to a lot of books on 2x audio because I am very audio focused and like to get the information faster. Craig's pace was perfect on 1x normal setting.
Be aware of your ego!
My life is far better and happier as I embrace my primary thought events and get in the flow!
Yes, as insights into how we "tic" are very helpful in daily interactions.
a little tedious at times, but details are necessary.
This book is definitely worth listening to.
Will listen again and again, as with each new sitting, learning something new all the time, giving me a great outlook on life, just look for the good in every situation, they all have them you know............
So I listened to this whole book. It's got some good things to say. And it's far and away better then the secret. But don't kid your self, it's just a religious text. It teaches about an afterlife, how to commune with God and the role of sin and the devil (their isn't any, except when it's your ego). In many respects it's just a mishmash of eastern and western spiritual ideas.
But it does have some evidence driven material. And it has thoughts on spirituality that are interesting. Personally I prefer the work of Andrew Farley and/or "the Great Courses Series" lecture set on 'Mindfulness.' Either could be a reflection on my values going in , I'm a Christian. But no matter your goals it's really just another book that's more to do with the authors values and how they helped him. As a biography of his personal journey I think it has merit. As a prophetic, or self help, text I don't think it's all that.
1st the reviews. They mislead me and I should be allowed a refund. 2nd. This is copied and pasted. A huge majority of this book is from another book of his! But don't just trust me, go to the other one star reviews. 3rd. It is completely opinionated, no evidence.
Of his. You know he lost credibility with me. I'm not saying I will not buy anything of his again but I will be cautious. I'm gonna read more reviews see where I get an honest feeling. I really felt mislead with so many 5 stars. And the fact so much of this 3hr audible is word for word of another book makes me feel robbed. I will continue to listen to the dating one i have. It's good, but even still I will be way more cautious if I ever buy another dating book from this author. What if he decides to do the something he has done here.
British, charismatic, entertaining
I would remove it all. This is a waste, and it shows some of his character. Dude this thing is copy and pasted from other books of his.
He spends a good hour ranting about religion but it is all opinionated. I felt like i was listening to a teenage kid tell me this is how the world works. He wants to tell me he doesn't believe in Moses and the parting of the Red Sea but he believes in physic powers. And leaving your body and going place to place with your spirit. Does this really have to do about happiness in my life? Well to him it did. He explains that the rules of religion are what keep us from happiness and we cannot be happy, ever truly happy as long as we believe in a god. So religion has a rule I need to believe in God to be happy and the author has a rule I can't believe in God to be happy. Really dude, your saying the Same thing religion is saying. Well this was my review. Buy his dating book. It's good. This is garbage, maybe he owed somebody money and just had to throw something together lol.
You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take. —Wayne Gretzky
The first thing I realized when I started listening to this book was that it was different from most other self-help change your mindset book. I have heard the main points the author expresses somewhere else but he is able to put it all in a new perspective. Even if you listen to NLP books, the power of your subconscious mind and from authors like Abraham-hicks, you should pick this book up.
Why “the secret” never worked? It’s because you can’t fool your subconscious mind into believing something unless it already believes in it. All the suffering is ego created, a beast that lives in the past or in the future completely ignoring the now. Live the now, the past is gone, and the future does not exists.
I'm curious & creative and I love new ideas about life!
Craig Beck is good at narrating his own books with his British accent and enthusiasm, that you can not help but love listening to him!
I've listened to a lot of Craig Beck's books such as "Alcohol Lied to Me", "The God Enigma"and "The Hynotic Salesman", and they all carry very spiritual messages about life, God and happiness! Craig has a way with words and he really gets me thinking! The general message that he conveys in all four of these books is that happiness resides within and that we all have the answers right here and now!
I think that Craig just has natural enthusiasm and excitement for his ideas on life, and this is reflected in his performance.
I do love Craig Beck's books on audible and listen to them over & over again with my friends. His books spark some interesting debate! I have also referenced Craig at my meetings and have got quite a few laughs! I don't always agree with him, but he always make me think!
