I would recommend this book to a friend, Nora Robert's characters always feel so real.
I liked the interactions between our hero and the children. Very amusing.
This is the first book I've ever written a review for, mainly because this is the first Nora Roberts book I've listened to with a male reader and i wanted to share. It sounded weird to hear him doing the female voices, and took a bit getting used to. It was slightly distracting, to me, but not so much that i didn't enjoy the story.
This was a good listen, a good romance. This is only my second Nora Roberts, and it appears her stories always seem to end happily, so the story was somewhat predictable. But that doesn't matter if you like Nora Roberts stories, which I do.
I had a little trouble with the narrator at first. He started out so slow! At first, I wasn't sure I'd be able to get through the entire book; but he got better. I found myself unable to stop listening! There were quite a few female characters and he wasn't the best with creating a separate voice for each. He was better at creating different voices for the men.
Luckily, the text included enough information so that it was easy to follow who was saying what.
Overall, this was a really good listen!
Classic Nora Roberts story, as always, good, fun. Narration bad. Great for men's voice, but women's and children's voices horrible
Although a bit predictable, a very entertaining read-- and I shed real tears, too. MacLeod Andrews did a fantastic job with the narration; one of the best I've heard in a while.
Say something about yourself!
I appreciated this story and look forward to the others in the series. I kept coming back to this book..put off buying due to the reviews about the narration. I found his narration style and delivery thoroughly pleasant. It was relaxing. I found he did as good a job as a man can when narrating women's voices. I thought the children's voices were fine. He did a very professional job. I love NR's stories. They seem to be my most favorites. Thanks for this lovely book. I absolutely loved the cover!
I could not even make it through this book. The narration is horrible
His narration was slow and his female and children voices were horrible
I wish I could get a refund for this book
Yes. It is a realist small town romance.
The small town community feel
It was laid back and followed along with the rhythm of the story.
No; it was more like a lazy rainy day relaxing read.
I just Love the Allure of a Great Romance...a Pair of Rose Colored Glasses...some Fine Wine, and a Subscription to Audible...
The Next Always, by Nora Roberts is a good story, but the narration, performed by MacLeod Andrews was found lacking. His character interpretation was annoying, for example, the brothers in this series all sound grumpy, the women sound whiny, and the children are intolerable as they seem to know only one pitch which is just short of screaming tantrums. I considered stopping the audio, but made it till the end. The story was a typically enjoyable Nora Roberts' novel. I'm glad that I was able to finish, but, had I known that the narrator would grate my nerves, I would have skipped this series. Sorry...
The Next Always was an enjoyable way to pass time while doing chores even if the story line is predictable and the same as all other Nora Roberts books.
The narrator makes the women and children sound extremely annoying. I also didn't like that during conversations between the characters it was difficult to figure out who was talking since many of the voices sound the same.
