Almost didn't get this book because of the reviews on the narrator. Glad I got it anyway, but I agree with the comments about the kids voices. They are awful, and when they come on I have to turn down the volume. Really annoying. I also set my player on 1 1/2 time so it sped up. That said, this is a good story. It is very detailed though, not sure every tiny detail of the house renovation had to be included. So another reason to speed it up. I enjoy this author's books sometimes, don't want them all the time. A little too sappy. But the interactions between family members are fun, the romance is good, the struggles of some of the characters add interest, and the ghost is charming. Even though it is predictable, getting there is entertaining. I'm sure I will get the others in this series.
This book is a great book to listen to. The narrator did a great job with this characters. I enjoyed listing to it, it was never boring. Mr. Andrews did a fantastic job capturing the personalities of each of the main characters. This is a great story of a family business and family and brotherly love. Also, it is about friendships, relationships and trust. I found it very entertaining, funny and suspenseful. I know I will listen to it over and over again.
It is a good book with a nice story - great for quilting and listening. Thanks to the person who recommended the 1X playback, it really improved the listen.
The Bride Quartet books by Nora Roberts
At regular the performance sounded lazy. The kids voices were irritating and the women's voices were marginal.
This book started off really slow
good, average, performance
I am not sure. this was a good listen in between book but I still prefer this writer as J.D. Robb The In Death series can not be beat!
I would listen to it again because it has a good story line.
It didn't become predictable
I enjoy the love scenes
Couldn't wait to start the 2nd book after finishing this one. Would definitely recommend!
The characters were well defined and really came to life.
I don't think I would listen to it again, but I enjoyed it
I liked all characters, not one in particular. They are all good people, love to live in a small town, looking at everything from the bright side and try to be happy with their loved ones.
He has a good voice but his rythem is so slow I had to speed it to1.5x. I loved the narrator who read Witness from Nora Roberts, she would be my choice,
No, but the book in general had a warm feeling to it.
I mistook my earlier review of The Last Boyfriend as the first in this series. However, my reviews for all three of the books is the essentially the same. I liked them ALL very much and would recommend reading all three in succession, as I did. Most of my comments about this and the other two are covered in my other two reviews. Nora Roberts is a "new" discovery for me, and I enjoy her style and look forward to reading many other of her books.
No spoilers! Love HOT, sexy books w/a plot. No vampires, paranormal, teens 4 me. I also review in exchange for books-lots of fun surprises!
Maybe if the friend enjoyed over done descriptions of architecture, design, decoration and renovations. The sweet romance is kind of lost in the over all renovation description.
Too many details as described above.
This narrator really did not help - his interpretation of women and children's [whining] voices was especially grating.
I'm glad to have purchased this on sale...not worth a credit, in my opinion.
