I am a retired high school computer teacher. After years of tech reading, I have given up reading for listening while I woodworking.
Very good beginning but be sure to get the next book in the series. There is a fabulous and compelling flow. Don't argue, it's only money!!
I was a Reading Specialist by trade , but mostly I'm a wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, and servant to four cats.
Great surprise ending.
Sam Cole. She was a small-town cop who had to deal with the interference of military cops on her turf. She handled it with class and sass.
I can't choose-both are outstanding!
The ending took me by surprise and that's saying a lot.
My only disappointment is that all of Baldacci's protagonists are basically the same character. John Puller is just a younger version of Oliver Stone. Great story, but not a lot of imagination regarding main character's background as a military operative.
Among the top. I would listen to it again.
There wasn't a single moment. It was just the overall character of John Puller. He was expertly done and is very memorable and now one of my favorite characters along with Mitch Rapp and Odd Thomas.
Many and this is up there with his best.
The fact that there were 2 voices reading the book made it more realistic than a single reader trying to emulate multiple voices.
Plot was interesting - lots of twists and turns - good action and the guilty party difficult to pick out.
Not heard them before.
No extreme reaction - plot was interesting enough that I kept coming back to it - only listened on trips to work and when walking so no long stretches of listening.

Puller MIGHT be a decent character if JACK REACHER wasn't already created, and also that Reacher is a better character who is developed MUCH better, and I don't know about anyone else but I can't tell from the tone of the narrator and the way Puller questions his suspects he reminds me of that other character that Baldacci made up in the book 'The Innocent'
I did not make it past the first portion of this book because I just could not get into this particular character... he seemed to me more like a foresic expert verse part of a military investigator, MP like...
I don't think I gave this book the fair amount of time to finish because the reviews and the character PULLER... I mean jeeez, did he have to choose a name that was also a friggin action.... REACHER.... Lee Child said he came up with that name when he was food shopping and his wife suggested he could become a professional 'REACHER' after grabbing a can of food out of her reach... COME ON BALDACCI, The Camel Club ain't half bad, but I mean between Flynn, Baldacci, Thor, Child, and many others... none match up to MITCH RAPP... but in this instance Baldacci handicapped me by using a character that was waaaay too much of a carbon copy of Jack Reacher... so like I said he really weasn't given a fair shake, but its like that short african kid who used to yell 'whatchu talkin'bout Willis??'
Lots of action, believable
John Puller- Great character
There were many
Use it for trips. Too long for one sitting
Recommend it highly
I enjoyed the characters - The descriptions of the environment put you right there with them.
Puller for his calm cool introspective, one step ahead approach to things. Just the facts maam leave nothing out and don't assume.
Great voice influction - I could hear the military man in Puller.
The story not being a re-tread of Lee Child's Jack Reacher (admittedly out of Army now, but even his description was similar.)
NO...I'm stopping. I used to love him but got tired with the Camel Club and am just done now.
I like Audio books and the performance was fine... it was just that I couldn't believe the similarities with Jack Reacher and feel that Lee Child could sue successfully!
Well, I guess I would just try to re-do the main character so he's not another Jack Reacher!
I usually enjoy Baldacci books, and this one was a good story, a good concept. Yet too many times the story seemed to be going all over the place unnecessarily. I enjoyed the concept of the story line and I thought the narration was really great. I would recommend it if your into Baldacci, but skip it if you have other options and possibly come back to it.
Just my opinion :O)
It was one of my favorites that I have read by David baldcacci
It had the perfect characters , JOHN PULLER , he is a great man , strong , smart , TOUGH ,and calm under pressure .. He had a female officer to help him and she was just perfect for him , smart , not to tough , and didn't overpower John . They worked together and she was just cocky enough to be interesting
They bring life to the story
Yes this is the only book that I shed a little tear , when the lady Cop was killed
I liked this book very much with just the right characters
