I have been a fan of Lisa Kleypas audiobooks and this one is typical. IE - The couple meet & seem ill-suited for each other. Their relationship develops & they fall for each other but keep it to themselves due to their own insecurities. They have a sexual encounter that results in a break up as well as an obsession with the other. The story comes to a crisis point from which they overcome the obstacles that have kept them apart.
Wag More Bark Less
The strength of the female character. You can feel her growing into her own person as the story goes along.
Anyone with buttons.
Anything that Roslyn Landor narrates turns into PURE GOLD for me! She has one of the best voices i've heard. She makes a good story Great!! Read on Ros!!!!!!!!!!
The emotions of the character
Avid reader and Audio books listener
8 of 10, not one of my all time personal favorites, but it was good. It took time for me to warn up to narrator but that is to be expected as I listen to so many books and have pre-conceived sounds in my head, after a few chapters it was perfectly fine.
Zack's goodbye to Rose
Holly's return speech to Zack in his bedroom
some stories are best left as books.
audio addict! Mostly interested in history and some historical fiction. Will Durant is my all time favorite. Loving the Great Courses too.
Oh my! I don't know how I missed this book, since I've listened to every LK audiobook. I have had this one for 3 years, and thought I listened to it. I'm so thankful I realized my mistake.
This is not just another great Kleypas romance; this book stands alone as one of the most gorgeous, passionate, heart-breaking, triumphant stories I've read. It makes her Friday Harbor series look like a disaster.
This is the the story of a proper society widow and a rough-around-the-edges self-made millionaire who meet by chance in the shadows and find that their lives are never the same again.
Holly is hired to teach Zachary Bronson propriety and to help him and his sister to be accepted by the ton. But while she teaches him refined manners and courtly grace, he teaches her about a world of forbidden passion and love so deep it stirs the soul.
The book made me laugh and cry and my heart swelled with the budding relationship between these two characters. Along with the H/h, there are a number of wonderful side characters that I fell in love with!!
Rosalyn Landors is perfect for this book. Her narration was spot on!
Not to be missed!!! Highest Recommendation!
I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
My Fair Lady in reverse - and LK BEST BOOK EVER.
Worth a credit? Worth 2, 3, or 4
Not bad. Not bad at all. I really can't find fault with the story, the writing, the characters, the narration. All were fine. But nothing really grabbed me either. It was an enjoyable read (listen) but, beyond that, it was average.
Still, an average Kleypas is better than many other books available.
The numerous unique and varied characters Ms. Kleypas brings to her stories makes each book unique yet guaranteed to be enjoyed.
Eclectic lifelong reader
I have listened to many books written by this author and read by this narrator, and enjoyed them all. This was among my favorites. However, Ms. Kleypas and her editors need to understand the proper use of objective pronouns! I don't know if it's just that I never noticed it before in her other novels, or if it was just particularly frequent in this one, but it would jerk me out of my rapt listening state each time a "between you and I," or a "her and I" came out of the narrator's mouth. I counted at least three occurrences. I know this doesn't bother every listener, but to those whom it does bother, it's jarring. Ms. Kleypas, you write beautifully. This one upgrade would make it sublime!
