"Nobody is perfect, but....he is a legend."
This book was quite inspirational. With great clarity, it allows us to get inside the skin of a flawed man, somebody with a chip on his shoulder; and at same time, a man with determination and with an incredible vision.
There was no many people like him, a guy with a profound sense of rejection, weird eating habits, and sometimes even with a dubious philosophy of life. But he always carried the special sense that he was born to fulfil a mission, which was a bit more than just to become a millionaire. It was not easy and it is like he needed the emotional turmoil that guided him through his life; and is that internal struggle that made him somebody who can beat adversity, somebody who sticks to his ideas and battles furiously for his beliefs, to finally become a legend on his own right.
His legacy will still be present for many years to come, the careful creation of a world-wide brand like Apple will still shape our future for many generations... and his life, as this book shows us, will remind us that not even a "perfect" man; could achieved a "near-genius" status... You just have to put your mind and soul into whatever you are doing.
It has been one of my favourite books of this summer and the narration was clear and enjoyable. I truly recommend it.
"The best out there - essential reading."
First the bad.. Essentially flawed - jumps around in time sometimes... Not as technical as I would have liked in important places. Accuracy of some things can be disputed. Feels written in a rush in places and could have done with more editing and rearranging.
Now the good. This totally overcomes the bad. This is a gripping Bio and well worth the hours of time to listen to. It is entertaining and really makes you think. It holds nothing back. In years to come there will be other more balanced BIO's perhaps with a more technical lean to them. Until then, this is the book to read.
I still give it 5 stars for effort.
"What a story"
Great book, great life story, great narrative. You learn how to love and hate the guy and the narration makes for a even greater experience without over acting the characters.
"Truly Excellent Book!!!"
After watching Steve Jobs movie I was always reluctant to read this book despite having seen many positive reviews. But now after having listened to it I feel it was a very good decision. The book is genuinely written without any sugar coating. Just like an iPod, iPad, iPhone or MacBook😊.
Best biography I've read/listened to. A great account of a very complex individual. There is much to learn from a management / leadership angle and I found the narrator excellent
"Really good, enjoying it a lot :)"
Been listening to this as the radio is broke in my car, and have found that my road rage has actually been cured!
Content is interesting for someone who knew very little about Jobs, so really enjoying it as would never read it!
Jobs was indeed an amazing person who I have a great deal of respect for now having listened to this :)
"An amazing life, a huge book, made accessible"
This would have taken me months to read. I was glad an audio version came out so soon after the book was released.
It's all true, Jobs really did change the world. If you are interested in people, business or technology, there is something for you here.
There is more business than engineering in here, but it is still fascinating. If you are in the least bit interested, buy it now. You want be disappointed.
"Brilliant and educational"
I would never have read this if I didn't belong to a book club - it was excellent. Steve was a brilliant guy albeit difficult. Recommended.
I purchased this audio to listen to while driving to France. Even though it was quite long it was very interesting.
It was also quite good to start listening to it again when it finished as you can forget the details of his earlier life as it seemed so long ago you heard it.
I would recommend this audio even if like me, you are not a gadget person.
"Mind made up..."
Only 4 stars, because of my reaction to the man that was Steve Jobs. Without a doubt a hugely well researched and well written book, a real unveiling of the character of Jobs and how people around him became part of the Apple vision. What ever your reaction to Steve Jobs, it is without a doubt an incredible vision that he created and the book draws you into that idea. However my personal view of mr Jobs was changed and I ultimately came to conclusion that he would have been a nightmare to work for....! Great book, well worth the listen if you can last that long.
