This book was lacking when compared against Brad Stone's "The Everything Store". This book at full length seems abridged and only glances the topics.
Mostly like non-fiction tech, business and history. Enjoy tech based fiction
I hadn't realised how old this bio was when I bought it, but only goes up to 2011
Writing style and narrator are a bit annoying as well. This bio is nothing compared to bios on Jobs, Google and Musk
Excellent background on Amazon and especially Bezos. Well worth a listen for the history up to 2011 when the book was published. The story continues and a lot has happened since then so now I want to either listen to an updated version or a more current book on Amazon.
This was an interesting book about Jeff Bezos and the rise of Amazon.com. There were some interesting info and details about both the founder and Amazon. It covers a bio of Jeff and the founding, rise and reorganization of Amazon. While the book was enjoyable, the narration wasn't the greatest. The entire book was narrated in a monotone delivery. A better narrator would've made this book more interesting. No emotion either. Great book, just okay performance.
Editor at Audible -- I like self-dev, Sci-Fi, and Fiction that leans a little bit, but not all the way, towards literary.
The narrator drones on a bit, but Jeff Bezos story is really interesting. It's at times hard to decipher what his true talents are, because this book makes it seem like he is good at everything. Which, considering his success he probably is. I work for Audible so this helped me better understand our company's history and in that sense it was truly useful. Amazon is such a large and ubiquitous company that this book really helps you understand in how many different ways Amazon effects us. More importantly it's interesting to gain Jeff's perspective and approach to opportunity. I think that will be useful.
wrote this on my phone sorry for typos
The begging was a little slow
We got a lot of the story
Was what I was looking for at the time
A interesting look at how Amazon grew into the killer end all shopping experience from humble beginnings as an online book seller. Brick and mortars fall in its wake.
If you set your expectations for a 5 hour short informative and somewhat entertaining history of Amazon, you won't be disappointed. At 5 hours, don't expect a ton of detail but there's enough to give you a decent idea of how the company evolved.
I found it easy listening.
The insights into Bezos. I would love to read a full biography on him.
The descriptions of what a small company Amazon started out as even after they were getting a decent amount of business.
