I loved the honesty of the anecdotes Mindy writes!
The whole book is memorable. It's a silly, good time! Her humor is flawless. If you enjoy the Office, there is no doubt you will enjoy the book!
The moving part of the book is that it is honest. There are several times in the book where Mindy bares all, makes no excuses and shys away from being
This was a great, fun book to listen to. I'm so glad Mindy Kaling read it herself. That definitely made it funnier.
I like the audio version better than the print version for this book since Mindy is reading her book so you get her tone and inflections.
Except for seeing Mindy on TV, I didn't know much about her background. She had a traditional childhood although with exceptional parents as role models and good family support throughout her career. She seems well grounded and upbeat with a healthy value system. I hope teen age girls will read or listen to her book. It's well written, witty and sharp.
Add this to the list of enjoyable, quasi-autobiographical works by comedians like Steve Martin, Tina Fey, Samantha Bee, and Ellen DeGeneres. Not as laugh-out-loud humorous (like Bee's or Fey's) but more genuinely autobiographical like Martin's. Any fan of the Office or modern humor in general would get a kick out of it.
For genre, right next to BossyPants and Born Standing Up
Mindy- This is not a good question for this type of book which is obviously written by her about her life and career choices. Still she was very upbeat even while giving a bit of advice with humor kicked in.
Same question as above??? Although I loved Michael Schur's obituary- outrageous
This is not a book for a film.
Mindy Kaling is one intelligent, hysterical writer who comes from an upper class family and has a tremendous sense of humor about her time at Dartmouth, being Indian and her strong will. I'd love to be her friend.
PS Why have you started asking these questions in your reviews? Is what we just think not enough to encourage or discourage future readers? I do not care for the format as some of the questions do not apply to the book you are reviewing. Sorry.
Made the story more interesting.
I didn't finish it.
I know that Mindy is not Tina Fey. But Tina set the bar so high. This book was so boring that I did not even finish it. I suggest buying Bossypants or anything by David Sedaris instead.
I would highly recommend it. She's not a fully grown woman looking back on her life and career. She's a 32 year old trying to figure things out... like the rest of us. It's funny. She's a celebrity, but also very based in reality.
Her stories about being a celebrity that isn't stereotypically beautiful.
Love The Office.
Pretty well...I think its clear she doesn't narrate for a living, but what do you expect? I do really like the book, still.
She's really funny and proposes hilarious questions that I sympathized with. All in all, definitely worth it!
A very enjoyable book. I have watched Mindy for years on The Office, but had no idea she was a writer, director and now producer.
Her story is fascinating and made me laugh out loud. I'd recommend it.
Hilarious and fun book!
I love that Mindy narrated it!
When she was talking about writing for SNL.
I laughed pretty much all the way through.
