When I knew that Nicholas Sparks would be having his newest book released Oct. 11th, 2011 I could hardly wait! The wait was worth it, of course. He writes in a manner that keeps ones attention and always there is a twist that twinges the emotions, and this one doesn't fail to meet that.
Like most Nicholas Sparks books as mentioned in my Notebook review, I do find I like the movies better. This also proves true with The Best of Me. Though a fantastic book, I enjoyed seeing the story more than I enjoyed hearing it. But once again, none it could have been possible without the mind of Nicholas Sparks. I look forward to see what amazing stories he will give us in the future!
The love story of this book is essentially the story from 'The Notebook', just told in a different sequence. And to add "depth" to this story the author shoehorned in edgy characters who are violent drug-addicts.
The story is tedious, the females are poorly conceptualized, and the murderous family arch does not help the story at all.
great bstory and much better than movie. characters came to life in the reading.
