The whole story disappointed me.... it was as if the author couldn't make their mind up and just kept spinning story after story within the story... then meshed them up to make them link up to an odd ending. Kind of like a bad dream you have that makes no sense.
It was predictable and stayed true... miserable lives miserable ending.
His voice is just the best... I mean the best. The vocal level was soothing and keeps you calm and quiet while he spins the story out. I hated the book but loved the narrators voice so kept listening. My only complaint on my kindle I had trouble turning the volume up loud enough a little more volume for me would of been great.
There was only one redeeming quality for me and it was the narrator who just did the best job. I want to hear more of Sean Pratt I might even go outside of my normal reading choices just to listen to him.
You know they keep making movies out of this authors books and some of them I actually like. This one though.... it just tanks all the way to the end. ---- I like it when you see a DVD that says it has a Fairy Tale Ending that should tell you something.
What can I say except Nicholas Sparks did it again. I just love to listen or read his books. They are easy to follow, characters are deep and you feel like you are part of the story. Another must read for Nicholas Sparks fans.
Not good. The story is weak and boring. The accents are too heavy and overdone. I could not finish it.
The Best of Me is one of those books that almost anyone would enjoy. It reminds us of lost youth, lost love and our life in general. The book takes the love of two teens who are separated by circumstances and shows what happens when they meet many years later and with so many hard life experiences behind both of them. It makes us look within to see where we are in life, our regrets and shows how very short and unexpected life can be. Nicholas Sparks is a master at writing about love and life and this book is thoroughly enjoyable. It’s not one of his best books, but well worth the read. And when reading, especially the last third of the book, be sure and have tissues handy. They will definitely be needed.
