I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
As usual E.J. has put everything into her Regency fairy tale - it's got passion, humour, romance, likeable characters who get themselves entangled in a sexy touching plot. Her books are usually an automatic download for me and if you listen to this then you will know why.
Worth a credit? Yes, and I hope to continue enjoying her books with many many more series.
What a wonderful story. I did not want to sleep because I needed to hear what happens next. The book is about a Lady who gets wrongly accused of being pregnant based on a gown that made her look pregnant. Once her good name is dragged through the mud, her future plans of getting married well goes down the drain and so her family has to come up with a good plan for an advantageous matrimony. Once armed with a plan, they approach a Duke with an eligible son and let him know their beautiful daughter can be a good candidate to save their dukedom. Since everyone believes the prince got her with child, the duke gets even more excited about the news of the possibility of having a grandchild who is related to the prince. Their only problem is to convince the duke’s son to marry her (well of course this all assumes the child to be is a boy). Very cute love story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hilarious, emotional, intriguing.
Linett...she's thrown into a situation that's out of her control, but she makes the best of it.
Yes, I have and Susan is awesome.
Yes, this is one of those books, that keeps you tuned in to every nuance.
Awesome, to read and to listen to as well...highly recommended!!!!
I am a lover of books. I enjoy losing myself in a fabulous romance and great story plot.
I have been enthralled with the Fairy Tale series by Eloisa James. It was an unexpected surprise because quite frankly I expected some very predictable love stories. I have to say the only thing predictable about these love stories is that love conquers all in the end.
I devoured this book about the love between an English beauty, Linnet Berry Thrynne, and the beast she tamed in Piers Yelverton, Earl of Marchant. OMG! What a delightful read!!! From the very start, this book was hilarious while still being able to carry the undertones of a girl in ruin and the challenges that presents to a noble English family.
James is just fabulous in her craft of creating these wonderful, funny and witty conversations between the characters. Even at the beginning, in the part that would expected to be the "slow part" because of the background setting in which there is much discussion between Linnet's father and her maternal aunt about what to do in LInnet's predicament. I was so amused with the colorful characters and the scenes that were created to make the reader giggle and laugh.
So how do you like that? This book is so great that even the presumably "slow part" is so good!!!
Now to the romance...the chemistry between Linnet and Piers can be described as nothing more than an scintillating amalgam of intellects and fiery passions for one another. Now, the banter between the characters is so unique. These two are smart, funny, sexy, witty, edgy, and so appealing! I loved how Linnet and Piers clicked together on a higher level than just base passions. Linnet is devastatingly beautiful and although Piers approaches her with a very cautious and cerebral manner, he can't help but be drawn to her just because she is so perfect for him...I mean come on!-- she's his dream come true!--Isn't that what makes a great fair tale???
Well, this book is just amazing on so many levels. I loved the build up to the main conflict in the plot. When I first started reading about the hero, I was intrigued that even though Piers was described as a muscular, fit, smart, and very virile man..that he was actually eh-hem..."incapable???"-I couldn't believe it.......Thankfully, that side of the story gets revealed soon enough and the unveiling is AMAZING!--just so witty, smart and great. The leads are also very candid with one another...they engage in some crazy verbal sparing. They play hard ball with one another, but that's just a side of their smart, sassy characters.
And, I just knew that the main plot conflict was going to be horrible just because there were so many gifts to the reader before hand in Linnet and Piers fabulous but very unconventional "courtship"--if you could call it that.
What happens to the heroine was so emotionally draining, and just horrific. That part of the book was filled with a lot of angst and sadness.... I could not wait for the "happily ever after" to come.
Thankfully, the HEA does come and it's just as great as the book is. THis book will be memorable to me for the witty banter between leads, that amazing pool by the sea, the guard's house (steamy & great love scenes), and the beautiful, deep love that builds between these unforgettable characters.
Every beast needs a beauty to come and tame his wild side to help him find true love and to learn to let past hurts go and just enjoy the beauty that life brings....
Narrator: I really enjoyed Susan D.'s narration. She creates the most fabulous, masculine male voices...and her female voices are sweet with a nice sing-song quality. Great narration!!!
Day dreaming book lover!
Wonderful performance and story. The absolute best in romance. I laughed and cried listening to this book and Susan Duerden's narration was phenomenal. I have listened to this book multiple times especially when I am feeling a little blue and never fails to cheer me up.
Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm an addict.
Piers was like House by Hugh Laurie, cranky and way too smart for his britches. Of course I loved him for that. Nothing like being a smart ass, it is so fun. I love how at first Linnet treats Piers as if he is her gay friend, cracks me up. The ending had me a bit worried how it was going to end, but as in most romances it prevailed and made a fun romance with great characters. This book made my day at work fly by, which is an indicator of how good it was.
I was pleasantly surprised by this listen. the write up did not do it justice.
It was filled with witty banter from start to finish plus the narration was excellent!
If you are in the mood for a great, witty romance, look no further.
I enjoyed this book however I liked A kiss before midnight a little better. The main character (male) is pretty mean. I am looking forward to the next book in the series!!
