I've listened to many books by Baldacci but this is the first book by Marosz and honestly I hope I never have to listen to him again.
monotone and boring, no excitement at all and it made it very rough to finish the book but because I like Baldacci I toughed it out.
I bought this book a long time ago and it sat in my library. Finally I started reading another Baldacci book and couldn't get enough I've enjoyed all of them and look forward to reading more in the future.
This book kept me interested from start to finish. With lots of different plot lines and possibilities, I couldn't wait to hear what would happen next and who was involved. The book was hard to stop listening to because I wanted badly to find the answers to all the questions hanging in the air.
And held my attention throughout the book. Definitely interesting and a roller coaster ride. Rufus Harms is a great character along with the "supporting cast". Pictures of The Green Mile popped in my head when I started but no flies on Harms.
I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend it.
Kept me interested with a little bit of everything. Murder, Legal, political, and romance.
Slightly. I was worried about who might get murdered next. Also wanted to guess who might be the other bad guy.
Good solid narration. Not a distraction as some can be.
David Baldacci is one one my favorite authors and I will buy anything he writes. So I was surprised when I was searching the library to see if there was a book I had not purchased and found this one. Early on I must have been swayed by the ratings but didn't pay attention when I finally purchased this book. It took 4 attempts of getting into this book before I forced myself to just listen for the story's sake. In typical Baldacci, the story was good, engaging and entertaining. But, the narrator certainly killed my overall enjoyment. If you really enjoy David Baldacci, then weather through the narration for the story's sake otherwise, save your credit
Suspenseful and well worth reading
Yes I liked him very much !!!! He puts emphasis in the right places
Yes I could have very well sat and listened to it all the way thru but due to work that isn't possible
I liked all the characters in this book !!!
Narration was decent, and had a reasonable flow, and I would have rated the story higher but it was to predictable.
Love the twists and turns. Very well written as are all of his books.
Actually, yes I would. In the audio version, the characters really came alive for me,
The closeness of Rufus and Josh warmed my heart, They are such authentic characters and their willingness to give their lives for each other was amazing. When Josh was wounded, all Rufus could think of was getting him to safety. Very touching.
While he didn't sound like a woman, something about his voice gave life to all the characters, including the female characters.
I couldn't put this book down. I ran out of battery and couldn't wait for my Kindle Fire to recharge. I stayed up until 3 a.m. to finish the book. I laughed and cried. I fell in love with the characters, especially Rufus. I wanted so badly for him to be free and happy, and for the men who shot him full of drugs and tried to kill him to be punished one way or another.
Baldacci books are always good, but The Simple Truth is exceptional. I've read it twice and listened to it three times. It's excellent.
I've come to expect excellence from Baldacci. This book is just sort of run-of-the-mill. The characters are interesting, the story a decent one yet there just isn't the pizzazz that I so like when reading a Baldacci. So I won't recommend or not recommend - you're on your own!!
