Jacetta has an interesting story, and it is told well. Wish I had read it before i read The White Queen. Doubt it has much historical accuracy, but I liked the characters, the pace, and the magic. Couldn't stop listening.
This is one of my favorite books.
I love the main character Jaquetta. I really enjoy historical dramas.
If you liked the Constant Princess, you would enjoy this book. I thought it was extremely interesting that the main character in this book provides the source for today's modern day royal family.
This was a wonderful historic novel. I just wish she had started here as #1 book and worked forward instead of backward. Well written and well performed.
The history and characters. It's also a long story so I feel like I got my money's worth.
When the main character made the decision to marry the low-born man that she loves.
The way in which the narrator constantly said the name "Jacquetta" was distracting and annoying.
Mother, wife, avid reader, cook extraordinaire!
Philippa Gregory's command of the fact from this period lend easily to the story lines and characters. She used real people and real events as guide posts to lead you through an engrossing tale of intrigue, hatred, witchcraft, and pure unadulterated passion. This title is one of my favorites, having read or listened to 6 previous titles in this time period.
This story takes before The White Queen and The Red Queen. It follows Jaquetta Rivers, mother of Elizabeth Woodville who is the lead in The White Queen. Knowing what is to come in The White Queen, I continued to think I knew what was about to happen and I was constantly surprised by the plot twists. This is a fascinating story surrounding an absolutely wonderfully portrayed woman who tried to make her own way in a world ruled by men.
Bianca Amato is a fabulous narrator who masterfully portrays multiple characters with ease. I would recommend anyone listen to her read anything. I look forward to listening to her again.
The story (or history) of the interesting lives that form the backdrop for the Wars of the Roses is fascinating. Gregory does a good job of relaying the culture and mindset of the time period. At times the presentation is a bit dramatic but I have enjoyed all in the series.
Jacqueta is my favorite - an admirable an unusual lady.
Hearing about Joan of Arc.
She did a great job. However, I can read faster than she can talk!
Read more of her books
I love historical fiction!
I really enjoyed this book and want to go back and listen to the rest of the cousin's series.
I found myself consulting Wikipedia to check the accuracy of the story and also checked the English monarchs family tree to see what happened to Jacquetta's children and family.
I'm hooked, I just downloaded the White Queen...
